I just read, in another thread posted by w44wcf

Harris Publications the publisher of "Guns Of The Old West"  has thrown in the towel and has closed its doors.

Harris Publications citing  the reason...
" The magazine publishing industry has been through turmoil in the face of the rapid ascendance of digital media, changing consumer content preferences, magazine wholesaler struggles and consolidation in the supply chain.  We have tried mightily to persevere against these forces, but have been unable to overcome these challenges. "

I am a subscriber of GOTOW , and just renewed last fall  ::)
It's a shame.... Shoot Magazine went the way of the DODO several years ago....

THAT ...Leaves just the "Shootist"  our publication to carry on.

If anyone wanted to provide material gratis, I'm sure the Editor would jump up and down with joy. Several times.

I'm very saddened by the passing of GOTOW magazine.  My good friend "LaVista Bill" Bell is a member of NCOWS, SASS, our SMVS posse (Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society) and was a regular contributor to the magazine.  He said that it was after 29 years they closed down.  I love the convenience of digital media but I guess I'm something of a Luddite ... I LIKE having magazines with good pictures, reviews, & such that I can hold in my hand.
I had renewed twice in the last couple years for a total of 7 years so my subscription was good until 2022 or '23! My subscription supplier said they will transfer any $$$ credit I have to another magazine of my choice they sponsor.  Fortunately, they also do Guns & Ammo, which is the only other mag I get besides American Rifleman.  I guess I'll transfer my 'scrip to them.  I was already renewed to G&A until 2018, so I hope I live long enough to read all of them I'll get from now to about 2024 or '25!  LoL!

If anyone wanted to provide material gratis, ...

How about "free gratis" - in reference to a scene from the series Deadwood.

I certainly will miss the GOTOW.  I had aske for a subscription for Christmas, and didn't recieve it.  I guess that now I will have to scratch it off my Father's Day and Birthday list.

I got the final issue last week.  Haven't read it yet.  But I will miss it.  I used to work with the writers on build custom or specialized movie gun replicas for articles.  Been on the cover a few times (well, my work was).  It was a good magazine and informative.  Wonder if anything will lift its head up to replace the niche it filled...

Bottom Deal'n' Mike states on the SASS wire

" I got some great news today.

As you know Harris Publications went out of business, taking "Guns of the Old West" magazine and "American Frontiersman" magazine with them.

The good news is that Harris sold most of its titles, including "Guns of the Old West" to Athlon Media Group in Nashville.
I don't know publication dates, but I just signed contributor agreements with Athlon today, so it looks like we'll be getting things going soon. "

Looks like ...Guns Of the Old West will be back !  :)
