Thought this song kinda fit in, maybe it ought to be sung headed down to the range before the match.  ;)

Panco Villa crossed the border in the year of ought sixteen
The people of Columbus still hear him riding through their dreams
He killed seventeen civilians you could hear the women scream
Blackjack Pershing on a dancing horse was waiting in the wings

Tonight we ride, tonight we ride
We'll skin ole Pancho Villa, make chaps out of his hide
Shoot his horse, Siete Leguas, and his twenty-seven brides
Tonight we ride, tonight we ride

We rode for three long years till Blackjack Pershing called it quits
When Jackie wasn't lookin' I stole his fine spade bit
It was tied upon his stallion, so I rode away on it
To the wild Chihuahuan desert, so dry you couldn't spit

Tonight we ride, you bastards dare
We'll kill the wild Apache for the bounty on his hair
Then we'll ride into Durango, climb up the whorehouse stairs
Tonight we ride, Tonight we ride
[solo]
When I'm too damn old to sit a horse, I'll steal the warden's car
Break my ass out of this prison, leave my teeth there in a jar
You don't need no teeth for kissin' gals or smokin' cheap cigars
I'll sleep with one eye open, 'neath God's celestial stars

Tonight we rock, Tonight we roll
We'll rob the Juarez liquor store for the Reposado Gold
And if we drink ourselves to death, ain't that the cowboy way to go?

Tonight we ride, tonight we ride
Tonight we fly, we're headin' west
Toward the mountains and the ocean where the eagle makes his nest
If our bones bleach on the desert, we'll consider we are blessed
Tonight we ride, Tonight we ride

...Tonight we ride, tonight we ride.

TONIGHT!

I know the logistics would be hard, but would be cool to see you show up.

He could use my Kropatchek in the main match, but I doubt I'll ever own or even see in person one of those Abadie revolvers.

All you will have to do is show up for this years Grand Muster and I can guarantee you'll see someone shooting a Luger in this year's Expansion Era Match, me.

Er, sorry just got carried away after earning the song. :-[
My life these days doesn't allow me to travel very far, appreciate the kind offers though.

Coffinmaker

Well ..... Well ..... For me, the "Expansion Era" runs from November to March or April of every year.  There is either some form of expansion going on, or my leather goods are shrinking over the winter.  Had to get a new Gunbelt this spring.  Last year's shrank.  What a GROAN!!
;D ;D ;D

Not necessarily, but if Scattered Thumbs went to all the trouble to take the trek across the pond for The Grand Muster, The least I could do would be to ship a couple of guns out there to make sure he had the right kinds of guns to shoot! :D

I'm just curious. Is your Vergueiro still chambered in 6.5x58? Or was it rechambered to 7.92x57?

Scattered Thumbs

I have no Vergueiro but at least I have a 1909 Portuguese contract Luger.  ;D

    Very cool Luger!

Rifle belongs to a friend-converted to 8mm and the 6.5 is X'd out-nice gun though with a very smooth action!

That figures, almost all Vergueiros still in Portuguese service were converted to 8mm(7.92x57) in 1939.
