I regret to inform the NCOWS community that Charlie Wilson passed this morning.  Charlie was well known and loved by many in NCOWS and was a member of the Great Lakes Freight and Mining Company out of Modoc, Indiana.  His stories were many, and he so loved to tell them. He had many friends and I am honored to be counted as one of many. My heart goes out to his family and friends.  He truely will be missed by many.  RIP pard.  Regards. Deadeye Don.

It was with very heavy heart that I received this news this morning. This is a great loss to the NCOWS family and very deep personal loss as well. A good man; a dear friend; and a the embodiment of NCOWS camaraderie. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Godspeed, Fall Creek Sam.

I am truly saddened to hear this news. Over the years I had enjoyed the times spent with Charlie, and Peevine, his good friend and alter ego. Lost many a dollar to their poker games. Got to the point where I would just hand them a $20 bill and say "Keep it, it'll end up in your pocket anyway." He was an avid pipe smoker and I spent many a time sharing a smoke with him as he spun his tales. RIP Fall Creek Sam.

Several of Charlie's fellow GLFMC members attended the calling yesterday. We gathered at 4 p.m. and all entered together in full NCOWS attire.

For those who couldn't attend, he was wearing the tan canvas vest and pink shirt that had become so familiar to us all. His black top hat with the green feather was setting on the edge of the casket by his head and his gun rig and pistol hung from the open lid. On the floor beside him were his tall black boots and his cream-colored slouch hat with the Indian beadwork band.

It was a very sad time for us all as it brought back so many of the wonderful memories of times we shared with him. More than one cowboy shed a tear yesterday afternoon.

Vaya con dios, compadre.
