New Colts, what a dilemma!

I finally got me some genuine Colt Single Action Army sixguns. I bought a consecutive pair in 44-40 that were made about 2000. They came with all the original papers and boxes. I'm having a terrible dilemma here, I was planning on shooting them, but after receiving them, I'm not sure I can.

should I shoot them or leave em un-fired and un-turned? Pics Below...

Oddly enough, Colt builds its weapons to shoot, not to worship.

If that were the case, they'd include a silk pillow for them to rest upon, and a can of 'Renaissance Wax' so they're shine even more.

But they don't.

If that's a foreign idea - sell them and buy a Ruger, and you won't care what it looks like.

I only shoot my Colt's pistols with black powder because I believe it to be easier on the gun. Also, I wipe all the micro-fine dust out of the inside of my holsters before using them with Colt's pistols to minimize the scuffing. They seem to do fine and still look great after such use.

Tune um and shoot um. They are modern made third gen Colts. You won't live long enough for them to appreciate so enjoy them while you can.

Why on earth do you need such expensive paperweights? And two of them at that.

Ship them to me. I'll send you two 40oz rocks they'll do the job just fine.

If they were 1st Generation guns in that condition I could see your problem. Short of that, why isn't there a wisp of gun smoke coming out of those barrels? (smile)

Shoot those 44WCF's the way they were intended, BLACK POWDER !

I have a pair just like them in 44WCF, also with 44 special cylinders.

I had the same dilemma but decided that even if you shoot 'em they still hold their value. You can't lose with a Colt! I used to have .45's and when I switched everything to .44-40 I got rid of the .45's. I didn't lose a dime and actually made a few bucks on a couple of them. Try that with a Ruger!

I shot them for the first time at the OVV April match they performed flawlessly.

I hear what your saying ... i have a NIB made last year P1840 45C 4 3/4 barrel..... its a thing of beauty and i have never shot it. I know its stupid because they were made to be fired but when you consider now an almost five year wait for a particular model ...in the safe it stays. I shoot the other Colts i have..... the two you have are
beautiful.

Shoot them and if they are set up properly and loaded properly there won't be any turn line.
