John Wilkes Booth Spencer Carbine located at Ford's Theater in Washington DC.

Over the holidays, I visited Ford's theater in Washington DC. This is where President Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. While touring the basement museum, I came across the very Spencer Carbine that he was carrying when he was caught. He had two of them. One was stashed at Mary Surrat's House in southern Md where he stayed while Dr. Mudd looked after his broken leg.  The second one he carried with him as he crossed the river over into Virginia to stay for the night at Garrett's barn. The 1860 Carbine was on display behind glass, but still looked in great condition with nice brown patina.

Two Flints,

Been there and done that.
Maybe 35 years ago? Very cool place!
We came to it on a Monday, after a reinacktment in La Plata, MD.
It was closed. Not unusual after being open for a weekend Saturday.
