The attached 2 pics are from the Connecticut State Library.
That is allegedly an RM style outside conversion of a Walker to .45 Colt, from The Texas Rangers' A Company, #137.
Unfortunately, these pics only show the right side of the converted Walker.
Has any of you pards and pardettes seen the original or pics of its the left side?
A conversion artist over here is in the middle of doing such a conversion for me using a 2nd gen Walker as a base gun.
We noted that the ejector housing is positioned "over" the wedge.
Now we are wondering how the ejector housing of the orginal has been fitted to the barrel and what kind of manipulations - if any - were done to the wedge to accommodate the housing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

LJW,

If you would like a traditional looking set up. I can tell what my plans are a whole lot easier than typing here just to see if its something you'd like to do. Lol!!
When I have time (like this evening), I'll type it out  for gen scrutiny. I'll be in the shop all day but can talk and work better than type and work!! Lol

Pm sent.

Thanks for the phone conversation, Mike.
The pistol will be converted to .45 Colt.
The objective of the conversion Artist is to
#1 use the original cylinder for the conversion despite the fact that two of the chamber mouths have a dia beyond .45 Colt specs
#2 not to line the barrel
#3 duplicate the "strange ejector Arrangement" as closely as possible
The Walker will eventually be presented to the Vienna Proof House for proof testing with nitro and black powder.
Here is where we currently are.

Thanks for your comments, dear Professor.
I'd like to share some more pics on the progress that has been made by the master.
Some bad news: the rifling groove dia is off the binding CIP specs.
Which requires working on the bore.

Wolf!!
It looks like you guys have done an excellent job!! I like the fact that the ejector rod head swings out of the way (  that one thing bothered me the most from looking at the pictures).

Thanks Mike, I'll pass your kind words on to master Karl.
We eventually saw the light regarding this ejector head's swing mode.
I will just be the proud owner of this Walker once the conversion job is completed and the Vienna proof house has applied their stamp of approval.

Every 2nd gen Colt Walker I have had in the shop had a rifled dimension of .461 or .462
I have reamed a number of percussion cylinders for them to .4525

Some news from down range in Austria: the master has applied the finishing touches and the proof house their stamps of approval, yeeehaw.
Now the front sight will have to be adjusted some to correct of POI and the transport back home to the German herd needs to be arranged sometime in January.

Jimeast

Very nice outcome!  I really like the way this looks.  I suspect it will be great fun as a conversation piece with fellow enthusiasts and, of course to shoot it!

Do you know if the ejector assembly is off the shelf or custom made for the project?

Long Johns Wolf

That's a custom made ejector assembly.
