Were any of the Bisleys USA built guns?

Best regards,
My opinion is free, and worth every penny of it.

There are US parts Bisleys.  If you're Bis has a serial number 20xxx or 21xxx it has an Italian frame.  Perhaps a few in the low 22xxx range

Monsai52

Thanks for the info.  I don't have one, but it's something to keep an eye out for now knowing that all USA versions exist.

So, while using US parts the frames will always be Italian, correct?

GaryG

If you have a late USFA Bisley, you have a US frame also.

Pettifogger

Gary, did the italian frames have recoil shields?  Is this a way to tell the Italian frames from U.S. produced ones?

Pettifogger,
Are you referring to the firing pin bushing that is pressed into the recoil shield?

Yes.

GaryG

The early Italian guns did not have the firing pin bushing.  The later ones did.  They were installed at the USFA factory.

Any idea of what S/N range would constitute a late USFA Bisley?

As a general rule of thumb anything with a higher number than 22XX, the higher the better.  There is one on gunbroker right now, but it is expensive.

yahoody

To be safe...and not sorry I would suggest 222XX and higher as in 2-2-2-xx

Here is why..

20862 parts gun (hammers and frames)
21024 parts gun
21213 parts gun
21215 parts gun
21600 parts gun
21601 parts gun
21651 parts gun
22113 parts gun
22180 parts gun*  transitional guns by the # out of order?

22154 USA gun*  transitional guns by the # out of order?
22293 cone firing pin USA
22421  cone firing pin
22934 cone USA gun...any thing past 23000 is a easy bet.

But nothing at USFA is written in stone..Caveat emptor
