I just a got a little Richland Arms 1862 Pocket. It's got an issue with the timing that I've not heard of before.  When dry firing(with nipples removed) it seems to function properly, ie bring the hammer to full cock, the cylinder advances correctly, pull the trigger, the hammer falls correctly on the nipple area. However, if you bring the gun to full cock, keep your thumb on the hammer, pull the trigger and slowly let the hammer down(like you would do if you were setting the hammer on an empty chamber), when the hammer is almost to the nipple the cylinder moves backwards so that it ends up resting about halfway between the nipple and the safety pin.

That sounds like fun.  NOT.  Not necessarily a timid issue.  More like a "fit" issue.  When the hammer is coming forward slowly, the hand is
dragging the cylinder backwards.  That means the locking bolt is not a locking bolt.  The bolt is not fit properly to the slot in the cylinder
and allows the hand to pull the cylinder back.
The radius needs to be corrected along with the overall fit into the slot and correct chamfer on the "lead" side of the bolt.  Should also check and see that the bolt is actually rising as it is suppose to, taking a look at the Trigger/Bolt spring while your poking around in there.

Thank you for the reply. Have not had time to look at it. What is the radius?
