Can anyone tell me the quality of the 1911's distributed by American Tactical Imports?

Seems to be a good gun. Has a pretty stiff trigger pull. Chamber is a little tight so its a little picky on ammo. Overall a good gun for the price. wM1

I have one in a Commander size. Fantastic gun. My gunsmith looked it over and was very impressed.

Thanks for the reply's..............I looked over one at the local gun shop and the machine work by the manufacture, SAM Inc. Philippines, is impressive.......very close mil spec. tolerances, 4140 steel, nice even parkerized finish (but I understand it is thin and not too durable)...........compared it to a Rock Island which are made by Armscorp.........the ATI is much tighter and cleaner..funny that the gun dealer stated the ATI's are at the bottom of the barrel in 1911's..didn't want to argue that point as he might raise his prices....just wish they made one in a polished blue finish like the Cimarron Guns by Armscorp.

I just got the military 45, and was truly amazed at how much it was like the service pistol I had to qualify with. The only issue, is that the finish is kinda thin. I picked up a scratch on the slide on day one, and it is wearing thin in places after only a week.

Wound up trading for a 5" ATI a couple months ago. Lightly used, I stuffed a new Wolff recoil spring in it and it runs like a scalded cat. These are good, solid guns with the machining done in the right places.

Mine has become my main match gun in WB. I also own Colts, Rugers and a couple of Kimbers.

Reviving this thread somewhat, but the sights on the ATI are just a bit higher than mil-spec and can be seen easier.

I have heard good things about ATI, but we haven't been able to get any at our gun shop.  I ended up with a Rock Island 1911A1 parkerized one for Wild Bunch.  Very nice.  Shoots great out of the box.  I'm actually writing an article about it for the Cowboy Chronicle.

Yup, I have been looking for another ATI myself. Guess they got hit like the rest of the world with this bug.

Nice gun with a cheap finish.

I like my nickel Cimarron 1911 very much except for the narrow hammer and non GI controls it came with, replaced them with GI stuff and now it's looking right. But I also picked up a Thompson Auto Ordnance 1911 to go with my 1927 Thompson sbr build, nice big sights. Don't think I've ever seen the ATI.

That consignment 1911 shows an amazingly fantastic finish.  Yum Yum.

The Nickel finish 1911s from Cimarron were/are also very nice.

I don't know about your guns, but mine was already rubbing off after a week. The scratches on the slide were on me and my wedding ring, but the "quality bluing" was just thinking.

Well, now that you mention it, mine is wearing on the left side.  Also, after just one year my frame has turned very plum colored.  Looks a little unusual, but I like it.

Pitspitr

I've had my Cimarron almost exactly 10 years. It does have some scratches and a place or two where I'm starting to notice the blue thinning, but it hasn't exactly been a "Safe Queen."

Thanks! I did not realize the Auto-Ordnance sights were just a little bigger than the original Colts'. Gives me another option to look for.
