Got a guy interested in swapping me a very nice. 'as new' Ped' Sharps saddle ring carbine for my Browning '86 rifle. It's one of the first ones without the rebounding hammer or tang safety.

I've got 5 Sharps rifles/carbines right now, all of them Shilohs and the one I shoot most often is the 50-70 carbine. Love that gun! I seem to favour carbines over rifles and actually shoot them better. They carry better as well.

So, whadyathink I oughta do ..... ?

I'd pass on that deal.  The Browning is a better quality gun and you are well stocked in high quality Sharps rifles.

I told the guy I'd expect cash as part of the deal and he balked. The '86 is a pet, having taken two moose for me and won in several off hand rifle events for me.

The '86 is a classic lever gun and a good companion piece to our two Browning '92's in .44 mag.

Oddly, the asking price for the Ped '74 is $1100 cash. That's what I paid for the '86 many moons back. The previous owner has since tried to buy it back from me on two occasions.

And thus we can see that this '86 has mystical magic Mojo - it is desired by all who touched it  or even seen it!

It should stay in the hands of a proper Western Knight such as yourself who will cherish and use it properly on Meese and Offhand Targets for the greater good!

well... you did ask....

Thanks, Prof! Came to the same conclusion myself.
