It rained all night here in GP. I didn't get much sleep. I hope to see everyone this afternoon.

The range pretty much flooded today. Most people called the day done after 3 stages. There were still a few hardcore shooters making noise and smoke when we finally left.

We shot all 6 stages because we were already wet.  ;D We had over 9 inches at the range between 1800 yesterday and 1200 today with about the same amount forecast for tomorrow.  We needed the range tractor to pull 8 or 10 vehicles out to the road.  Needless to say we have cancelled tomorrows shooting.

Couldn't get much wetter, but proved I could way more muddy, the Gumbo sucked me in and on my face I went... TWICE...
course, that was after we wrapped our 6 stages ... die hard,  intrepid , nuts , cold wet and MUDDY
I washed enough Texas mud off me to have my own zip code  ::)

at one point , I was stuck by both boots, right knee & my right hand up to mid arm breaking my fall,
it took three pards to pry me loose.  :-[

Funny now, not so much then !

And I should have known better that to take limited edition charcoal blue guns to a rainy match. I was unable to keep them dry enough and the finish on my rifle and revolver were ruined. When I get over the upset about it, I'll say "they have more character now."

Sorry to hear about all the rain issues you guys are having. Who would think a major NCOWS shoot
would get washed out by a hurricane. Be safe around floodwaters and best of luck riding this one out

It is over we had a good time.  Major 2 forever more will be know as Major Mud.  LOL  We had 9 inches at the range between Friday night and when we called the match at noon on Saturday.  It rained another 10 inches at the range  before the storm moved east.  The banquet was fun.  Thanks to 3B Shooting for the door prizes.  I won a nice 7 1/2" 44/40 Cimarron.  Thanks again Bryan.

Congrats Joe, on the 7 1/2" 44/40 Cimarron, I missed it by 1 number  :(

I mentioned on the Tall Tails thread, the Berger Sharpshooters are the Bench Mark of how a NCOWS Regional is run....

Though I washed the mud off leaving a formidable ring in the hotel tub, I'll wear Major Mud handle with fond memories & pride.

Thanks to all who attended and to all who worked so hard to put this match together.  I must say I could never be more proud of being an NCOWS member than I was in seeing the display of spirit shown by our NCOWS brothers and sisters in dealing with this unprecedented weather event.

A brief video is here:

He had a hoot.  My favorite memory:  while I was plowing through the mud to exit the range in my 4x4, I looked over at Biscuit and he yelled "COOL!".   Made some great memories this weekend.

Perfect choice for background music on the video, Pancho!

Yuma Kid and I had a great time. The people were what made it fun. We all had mud memories, Major2.

Thank you to all who worked so hard on this match!!!

Plus, I saw my first armadillo when it walked across the hotel parking lot Friday night.

Thanks again for showing Texas hospitality to those poor boys from Newbrasky!

I hate that the weather didn't hold out.  I am sure everyone still had a great time.  As River City said it is the people that make Texas a great shoot.  I still wish I could have been with you. Next year I hope!

I held out from going, due to the weather mainly, and I would have had to rush back to Houston in it on Saturday.  It would have been my first NCOWS.  Do you guys have monthly matches at Berger?

Dear God, you made many, many poor people.
I realize, of course, that
It's no great shame to be poor but it's no great honor, either.
So what would have been the difference if I had a small fortune,
and could fly twice a month to the Berger matches. ?  :)
