Cash:
Normally the weather is still fairly warm.  Mid to low 80's for a high.  You might need a jacket for the early mornings.  We have had one fairly cool weekend in the 6 years we have been holding this match.

Reservations are made @ Best Western ..I'll be in Dallas from the 6th.  and head over on the 22nd.

when planets align...do the deal !

Major 2

I need to get a check to Brian for my ammo ...could sure use Round count for main match
not planning the side matches as time will be crunched , between Work wrap in Dallas & the drive over to Greenville.

Will 200 R&P cover in WC ?

when planets align...do the deal !

Tascosa Joe

I think 200 would be pretty close.  Cole has not finished the stages but that is close to the normal amount.  We have a posse team shoot at the end of the match that will require an extra 5 to 10 rounds.

Cash:  You wont find many shops that carry period correct boots.  There are several modern boot shops. Mesquite (nearby town) has a Sheplers and a Cavenders Boots.

One place you will like:  the Resistol/Stetson Factory Outlet Store.  It literally has 1000's of hats stacked in a small shop on close-out prices.  It can take hours to wade through.  They usually have a custom hat blocker in house.  You can buy an open crown hat and have it shaped to your liking. They usually have a good supply of "Old West Styles" on discount as they dont sell well to the general public.  I have walked out of there with 3 brand new hats for a little over $100.

Of note:  this shop is in an area that is prone to crime, so proceed with caution & lock your car.  You can also call & reserve a tour of the Stetson factory.  Ive never done that, so I dont know what they'll show you.

Garland is about an hour drive west of Greenville

Details on the long range big bore rifle match:

"The Second Battle of Adobe Walls"

Weapon:  Period big bore rifles only in  NCOWS approved rifle cartridges (45-70, 45-90, 50-90, etc...).

3 categories for men, women, & juniors:

Smokeless
Black powder
Wm. Malcolm Class (Magnified optics, regardless of powder)

{I did not break single shot and repeater into classes as this is not a timed shooting event)

10 rounds for score, plus 2 sighter shots.  Rounds may be on body or staged within reach.
Repeater may stoke their rifle magazine if desired

Shooter may fire from any safe shooting position and may use cross sticks.  Cross sticks will be available for use.

Scored shots will not be "called".  RO will indicate "hits" only.  Any assistance to the shooter from spectators calling shots will result in a DQ.

"Bounced" shots will count for score as long as impact on the target is observed and/or heard.

In the result of a Tie in a category, an off hand shoot off will be held on Friday after lunch before the pistol caliber long range match.

Targets will be from 150 to 1000 yards.

Shooter will fire 10 shots at will to score as many points as possible possible.
