Decided to harden the arteries for supper tonight.  Deep fried beer battered catfish, hush puppies and deep fried batter dipped mushrooms.

Cooling off a bit here and the wind is supposed to pick up, so this might be an eat inside meal.

Back from the State SASS Shoot, my cooking was a big hit and the ER Dr at the Columbus hospital ain't a bad seamstress, got back to camp and got lunch done only 2 hours late. ::)

Only 3 stiches on the back of my right hand, missed all the nerves and tendons. ;D

Another nice day here in the Ozarks. Took a nap after church, then finished putting the "new" tire on my tractor, brush hogged another 10-12 acres without incident. Picked a few more beans, waiting now for the pressure to drop off in the canner to set them out, then it's baddy-by time, although an hour late.

Delmonico: Awaiting the story, perhaps those cowboys were so hungry they started forking out the food before you got your hand clear of the pot?

Meat cleaver, reached into the box and ran it across the back of my hand. :-\    Got the shot.

Just  got in a hurry because I was a bit behind on getting lunch by noon.

This was what things looked like at 7 am, not breafast is going good there between the folding stool and ice chest, and my rain gauge.  ;)

I am glad that the incident with the meat cleaver was not too serious. We need a bunch of that rain down here, the long range forecast is dry for us.

Lucky Irish Tom

Hello the fire,

I haven't been on in a while, dealing with family medical issues mostly. Wife fractured her odontoid bone in February, involved a lot of doctor visits, CT scans and Xrays. On Tuesday she went in for surgery, essentially a fusion and spinal cage from C1 to T1, the entire neck with screws into the odontoid bone to secure the pieces together. She came through the surgery fine and was doing better than the doctor expected. Saturday morning we were getting ready for her discharge from the hospital when she collapsed. For all intents and purposes it now appears to have been a massive brain stem stroke or massive arrhythmia caused by a clot whichever it resulted in oxygen deprivation to the brain. Earlier today I had to make the hardest decision of my 43 years of marriage and have the doctors take her off life support. Once everything was removed she lasted no more than a few minutes, but there was no chance that the woman I loved was coming out of that hospital in a condition she would find acceptable. My mind knows I did the right thing but my heart is broken.
If ya can't be fast it's good to be Lucky!
