Got Sue off to Milwaukee this morning.  Had to have her at the airport by 5:00 AM, thankfully the airport is only 15 min. from the house.

Almost 80 right now, headed for 96.
The cats and I are takn' the rest of the day off.  May go get some pizza for supper tonight.

Used to be 5 - 15 minutes from Ontario airport when we lived in California... never lived anywhere more than a few minutes away since we got married.  Now the nearest commercial airline is 96 miles away and the little local one doesn't have any passenger service.

Good thing I don't need to fly anywhere any more.

Had a bit of trouble getting used to the quiet, but it's okay now.

We are in the glide path of D/FW airport, so we hear airplanes all the time and helicopters from the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth.

We get some high fliers, commercial stuff heading North to parts unknown.
on occasion we see a Big job turning in of final for OIA, depending on the wind, kinda low.

We see the War Birds fly over during Sun'n' Fun and the Kissimmee Air Show.
a few year ago  I was out back,  A MiG-33 complete with camo paint streaked literately overhead  at low level
followed a few minutes later by 2 US fighters ...now that's something you just don't see everyday around here....
I did some questioning , found the MiG was a defectors gift and the 3 were running maneuvers down to the Sebring bombing range...
don't know if they were hot runs, but that's were they said they were headed .

Kinds noisy here in central Mo-I can hear the trains passing by several times a day (if I'm outside), tracks come within 3-4 miles of the house. Sometimes I can hear the nearest neighbor when he mows the grass. And the traffic's been pretty heavy on the road in front of my house, people are using it for a detour because of some bridge construction nearby. Probably doubled the normal traffic count of 20-25 cars a day..... ;D

I am on the regular flight path for A-10s heading over to Ft Wood to do practice runs, also the occasional C-130 or Blackhawk goes over. Once I looked up to see a pair of B-52s waaaay up there.

The Cawffee and Hot water are ready for drinking this morning. Enjoy!      M2, My Dad was at Eglin Field, going thru Pilot training, while the Doolittle Raiders were practicing their take-offs. He was unaware of this till after the Raid. His outfit was a re-organized group that Doolittle now commanded as a One Star. Dad was shipped to North Africa in Nov. 42.

TL,

I am always amazed to see those light bombers deck launch from the carrier with room to spare.
Of course, the 50 to 55 knot wind speed over the deck (what with wind speed from the the storm and speed of the ship) help a lot.
This kind of air speed could not be duplicated while practicing ashore, and the Navy could not count on anymore air speed than the ships 28 to 30 knot speed.
My best,

I know that my Dad was proud to be a member of the Unit. I am a member of the 57th Bomb Wing, which he was a member. They had a reunion in Dallas last October, which I was able to attend. We had 9 WW2 vets from units of the 57th wing. It was neat to meet them.

The afternoon clouds finally decided to release a little bit of moisture last evening.  Only about .02 of an inch, but it went on for about 20 min.  Happen just as I was about to do patio watering, so I considered it mission accomplished.  The preceding lightning and thunder placed the cats in unknown places, but it didn't last for long.  Did get the lawn mown in the morning before it got a chance to turn into hay.

Reno/Tahoe International sits at the floor of the valley, so it's almost 1000 ft. below our place.  We're about 5 miles east of the approach path, which runs north/south, so we never hear airline traffic.  About the only low level traffic to RNO we get are C-130's from the Nevada Air National Guard.

Spaghetti and Meatballs, Salad, and Garlic bread are on the Menu for Supper tonight. Moose is n charge of the preparation. It has been overcast all day and now we have some wind. It should be okay to eat on the Patio. The weather folks are predicting a 50 percent chance of rain about midnight.

We are still under flood warnings, but the yards need rain. It sprinkled last night, just enough to wet the Patio.
