The Slim Jim is a great holster.  When looking at the shape, my first thought was that it is very close in design to one I own made by and marked E. L. Gallatin, Denver.  That holster is pictured on page 85 in Packing Iron.  I have some research material on Clem Rohr, but find nothing to indicate he and Gallatin ever worked together.  Rohr was in Atchison from approximately 1857 to 1897.  Among other things, he was the mayor of Atchison for a time and died in 1910.

Buck, why IYO is there vertical stitching in the middle of the large design of this holster?  Purely ornamentation?   ???

I can only guess as to why the stitching runs parallel down the center of the holster.  If he wanted decoration in that area, why not tool it.  The holster is lined, so maybe he thought that stitch line would help secure the lining in an area where the cylinder rubs up and down all the time.  I would love to look inside that holster.

Another interesting one. It looks nice. The vertical stitch line is definitely different. He could have buried that in the design if he wanted. Maybe that's an after thought or later mod.

I thought about that too, but it doesn't appear that the holster main seam was ever taken apart, so in my opinion it is not a later modification.
