I saw one of these in my local militaria store in Victoria BC. I won't state the price as I don't know the market. If anyone is interested let me know, and what you think a reasonable offer would be.

Is it somehow reconfigured as a picket pin?  US Cav at the time carried a distinct picket pin, bayonets were not used for that purpose.  If its been modified, not much.  Krag bayonets without scabbard can run $50 to $150 US depending on condition. Scabbard can double the price, again depending on condition.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

I wonder if you are referring to the bayonet being paired with an M12 picket pin scabbard  :-\
I've seen this pairing before in Bannerman's catalog.

Major 2; I am unfamiliar with this equipment, but I think that is what I saw.

here is one on Ebay - "pin with scabbard"  that is

and one with the bayonet, it's listed incorrectly as " Krag military bayonet with original leather scabbard "

I've seen that combination for sale before, never bid on it. I didn't know what the scabbard was for, except that it wasn't for a Krag bayonet.

Here is another, and litho of the picket pin & accessories

St. George

That combination has been around for a 'very' long time.

It happened because the all-metal Krag scabbards were in shorter supply than the leather picket pin scabbards were, and dealers would put the bayonet in the picket pin scabbard and say: 'That's how it was done.''

Folks bought the idea, because they didn't know any better.

When mounted with the M1913 Saber, the picket pin was often strapped to the scabbard to save space, and sometimes, sharp eyes will see that in old photos.

The above-listed accessories are both interesting, and damned difficult to find.

They're also damned difficult to spot in the boxes of rusty junk, because no one's ever really seen them, so they don't know exactly what they're looking at - but they made a Trooper's life a little easier in the field, and they add a lot to any Cavalry display.

Scouts Out!

Major 2; It's like the bottom picture minus the straps that would hold the pin. The leather is in much better condition than the one pictured. I do not desire this for myself. If it is hard to find, I might pick it up to pass on if someone needs it.
