I love this guy's Youtube channel.  :)

I'd like to know how he gets his hands on all those cool original civil war guns. The guy is in Hungary or somewhere in e. Europe.

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

All,

Indeed! Balazs Nemeth does a great job. (That is his name BTW)
He is from the Budapest, Hungary, where he has a gun store and is a firearms importer. He is also an avid shooter within the MLAIC. This is the very much like the European version of the MNLRA here in the US.
Hope this helps.
My best,
Blair

Good to know.  When I went to Budapestg last year Shotgun Boogie from Germany told me they had an active SASS club there.  I wasn't there long enough to get in touch with them.  But it is good to know cowboy shooting is alive and well in Hungary.

Colt sold all over the World in the 19th century.

Yep, the guy always has good stuff and some really nice original guns.  As well as new stuff to compare em to.

I full well realize something is only "original" once.  However, if I were going to shoot that original 1861 much, I'd just have to put the original wedge and the original nipples in a little baggie and set them aside.  Fit a new wedge and some new nipples and really have at it.  Preferably, Slix cones (I've never looked, Slix make cones for a Colt??).  Using an original doesn't hurt em one bit.  Reasonable powder charge and round ball, Proper cleaning and maintenance and an original will do fine.

Pettifogger,

I believe Balazs would enjoy talking and sharing info with you. He also goes by the user name of "Space Cowboy", I believe he has a reported on this web site several times. You might want to check that out for yourself, and wont need to use me as a go-between?
Otherwise, you may contact me through my email in my profile. I'll see about butting you in contact with him.
The MLAIC maybe held in different European Country every year. So the participants may do a lot of traveling from all over the world.
As an importer, this may also give him access to quality originals that may otherwise be available to him in Hungary.

FCK,
That info may also help answer your question?

The MLAIC is the sanctioning body for muzzleloading competitions all over the globe. There is a world championship ever other year and Zone championships in the off year.  All types of firearms are used including both original and reproductions.  There are competitions for pistols, rifles and shotguns  at various distances out to 1,000 yards.

The long range competition has been held in this country in 2003 and 2007 at Camp Butner, North Carolina. I believe it will be held there again this year in the Fall.
