Finally got around to taking my Pietta R&D conversion 44 with 8" barrel to the range. I had loaded a box of 45 Colt with Badman 200 gn .452 LFN bullets ahead of 7.5 gn of Unique. Since this was a new gun and I had never shot a conversion, I didn't expect great results.
I was pleasantly surprised with a great group to point of aim that was better than what I got with any of my other pistols and revolvers.
Is this unusual results ?

Howdy Broom,

That's pretty much my experience with a 2nd hand Pietta and conversion.

Broomhandle,
A couple of months ago I got a couple of new 58 Remingtons with 5 1/2" barrels and conversion cylinders. I am an O.K. shot. When I first shot them at 15 yards I was pleasantly surprised. First 5 shot group about 1 1/2" and on P.O.A., that is real good for me. I was nervous to shoot the second one. The second one did just as well. I was very pleased. I have several '58 rem.s going back to a Lyman brand in the mid 70's and have had varying results.

I at one time considered one of these conversions.

I however decided to let my 1858s as they were meant to be. Cap and Ball.

I decided instead to just buy a 1875 Uberti Remington that was meant to shoot cartridges for  less money. Not alot more than a conversion alone costs for the whole revolver.

Nothing wrong if you like to convert the 1858s. I just decided it much more practical to go my route and maybe a little more authentic to.

Glad you like your conversion.

Major 2

I see tack driver results from my Factory conversion w/ the Black Hills 45

I took it in partial trade, I had planned to flip it, shot so well , I would not let it go.
It's not my main match, but it has been a few times with a good harmonious outcome.
