Hi Guys, I ordered a center fire block, mag spring , and contoured follower, from S&S for my 1860 56-50 (relined in 1866) (3 groove). I have 5 Starline brass cases. I decided to se if one would feed into the chamber (placing it in the chamber part way, an bringing the Finger Lever up. The "Stabler" cut off arm hits the riim of of the brass and does not let the case slide in nor will the "Stabler " arm slide by the rim into it's groove. Am I doing something wrong? I have some 56-50 bullets ordered from "Buffalo" in Sandpoint Ida.

Also , How do I send photos to "Two Flints"? Thanks you all!!

You are confusing the cut-of with the cartridge stop,to load single shots in all Spencer models except the ones with the Lane type extractor the rim of the cartridge must be behind the extractor and cartridge stop, whith your Sprinfield conversion simply turn  the Stabler cut-off in front of the trigger so it lets the cut-off slides in the  cut in the lower block and open the action till the cut-off stops the action opening all the way, this will allow you to start a cartridge in the chamber, closing the action will chamber the cartridge.with the cut off turned off the cartridge will only extract part way an must be removed by hand or shaken out

in my 56 50 Burnside,   I take the star line brass and put a 1/2 inch dowel in the case, I put the other end of the 5 inch dowel in my drill.  I run it slowly , at an angle, against the spinning sanding wheel of my grinder.  fine sandpaper . I tilt the case at about a 45 degree angle and ROUND OFF THE OUTSIDE OF THE CASE RIM, NOT THE INSIDE WHERE THE EXTRACTOR CATCHES IT.
by rounding off the outside of the rim, it helps it slide up and eject.  no hard thing to do,,,just tilt the case, run the drill and hold it against the sanding disc.
look at original cases and you'll see they were made that way.

once for each case and you're done for the life of the case.  or course  I anneal and then bevel the case mouth, and I uniform the primer pocket too.   I do this with each case I buy when it's new, and then forget it...
