Hello,
I'm new to black powder shooting but have found that I enjoy it.  Picked up two '58 Remington copies by Pietta.  One is blued, engraved, and absolutely perfect.  The other is stainless, and I purchased it second hand.  Pics looked great on Facebook, but it wasn't cared for the best.  Being stainless, I was able to bring it back without too much trouble, but then upon a final inspection I noticed that the barrel doesn't seem to be indexed properly with the frame.  Looking from the rear notch to the sight blade, the whole barrel is slightly off center, rotated to the right.  I'm guessing they just didn't perfectly tighten it down at the factory, but there's no gap between barrel and frame or anything like that.  It's even more obvious when you look from the muzzle end.

Proof marks say it was made in '07.  Does Pietta repair their own stuff or am I best to find a smith, and what do you guys think it would run to fix this up?  I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet, but I see no chance this thing will hit point of aim at present.

Thanks!

Shoot it first.  The previous owner may have had the barrel turned a bit to correct a windage problem.

Plus 1 to Pettifogger.  Definitely shoot it first.  Shoot it from some sort of supported rest.
