I finished my home made paper patch mold and cast a few bullets with it. Lots of pictures so I wrote an article with pictures and posted it on my web site.

Hope you enjoy it!

Inspiring project, and thanks for posting details. Only question I have is shouldn't there be a dent in the base to contain the patch's tail when folded over. I messed with some 40 calibre paper patch slugs years ago that were given to me and now due to you I'm going to have to make a mold for my 50 Sharps. Can't decide to thank you or cuss you! ;D

I'm new to this whole paper patch thing. But from what I've read, you can do the base of the bullet flat or with the cup. For now it is easier to make a bottom pour mold with a flat base so that is the direction I went.

At some point in the future I might try a cup base mold.

Roy,

It's a nice looking design.
What is the diameter of the bullet, and what paper weight/thickness would you suggest?
Keep us up to date on how if works for you.
My best,

The original PP bullets as loaded by Sharps were tapered and not straight sided. As well, they were cup based & swaged. Finally, they were patched up to bore diameter & not groove.
