As the title reads, my father was nice enough to get me a big lube mold for x-mas.  Finally able to get out do some casting.  Man, 6 at a time is really nice!!!

Just wondering what top punch would be recommended?  I have a Lyman lubrisizer and a 190 top punch right now.  It is leaving just a bit of a cut on the top.  It may be more of a round nose profile rather than a round nose flat point.  Really isn't a big deal but local shootin store carries a lot of them and figured I'd get the correct punch.

With my Lyman unit I use a Lyman #649 top punch, but a simple flat will work as well.  The Big Lube®LLC PRS 45 250 RNFP bullet has a flat nose and a simple flat will do your work.  Also, if you have some JB Weld on hand you can make a custom fit top punch.  Put some saran wrap over the bullet and a gob of JB Weld on the top punch and lower it over the wrapped bullet.  Let it harden, raise the handle and take the punch out and trim off the excess epoxy.  Presto, a custom top punch for exact fit.

I use a Star/Magma lube/sizer and the bullets go thru nose first so a flat is used on all flat base bullets.  But, when using my Lyman unit I find that the #649 is a good fit.  The #649 also works well for Mav Dutchman bullets.

Thank you DD! Never thought about JB Weld, may just use that idea and save a trip to town.  I also have an old 9mm that I haven't found a top punch to fit real well, I think I know how to cure that now too!

Can't wait to get to throw some of these new bullets down range.  Looks like the days of crusty fouling in end of my Marlin are now numbered  ;D
