Howdy. Has anyone found a good plinking load for the 30 Carbine Blackhawk? While searching the web for cast bullets, I came across this: http://www.kingshooters.com/30-mausertokarev-p-25528.html Any thoughts as to how it would work would be appreciated.
Thanks,
KM

King;

I don't have a Blackhawk in .30 Carbine at the present.  but I used to use one for NRA Hunter's Pistol competition.
I used a 115 or 120 gr cast linotype bullet that worked very well, but I don't reckon that I still have the mold to find what the exact weight/shape it threw.  :-\

I won't give out reload spec [for liability reasons] but I reckon that the .310" 92 gr pill will be okay for plinking.
But you should check the chamber mouths to get the actual diameter.  Mine were .308".

Please post what your results are.

My very limited experience with .30 carbine loads for a pistol indicate that a fairly fast "pistol powder" gives better results than a load taylored for a .30 carbine longarm.  The slower powders give a loud report and a lot of flash.  Your mileage may vary.

Yep, got that and agree. I was just looking for a load or two to try and if the those lighter bullets would work good for plinking. I have some .309 cast bullets that do not fall thru the cylinder, so I'm guessing .310 would be too tight.

OOPs.  I typoed my post.  My holes were .308 at the mouth.  And my bullets were sized at .309".

SORRY!!  MY MISTAKE!!

I contacted Better Bullets about a sample pack and they are sending me a few of those .310's. I would think they would be great for plinking and murderous cans.

Using the bullet weight and powder as if it were a 32-20 would work better than a 30 Carbine load for the longer barrelled M1.
