U.M.C. Cartridge Loading Room circa 1872

I have wondered what type of equipment was used by the factories in loading black powder cartridges back in the 1800's.
In going through the vintage catalogs posted on the International Ammunition Association's website I found this illustration in the U.M.C. 1872 catalog.

Interesting that turntables were in use back then.

Note how gently the lovely women are handling the cartridges. Makes you realize what loving care went into the manufacturing.   ;D

It does make you wonder about the amount of BP dust in that room and what happened when it must have periodically reacted "energetically"!?  :o
