Been waiting for this one awhile - Bob Millington 5 shot conversion with two spare cylinders. Belt is by Dave Carrico; holster by El Paso Saddlery. I made the front sight to mimic a Beals 1868 conversion. Shoots like a dream - enjoy!

Tommy4toes,

I have an original very late production NM-1863 Remington (made about 1874/5), that is very much like yours.
It has an 8inch barrel, is in 5 shot .44 Colt/Remington long center fire, thin recoil shield with no loading gate.
Mine does have the Remington extraction rod added to the side of the frame, the rod is held in place by the loading leaver.
It looks as though Mr. Millington has done a nice job on setting these up.
My best,
Blair

Thanks, Blair - yeah he does incredible work! The loading channel/extractor rod was left off at my request to duplicate an 1868 Patent 5-shot .46 rimfire conversion. And also to stay in 45 Colt - that's my primary caliber.

Two originals I shoot - top one is an 1863 Police in .38 RF converted to CF, bottom is an 1870s colt conversion in .38 CF. They both shoot a .375 heeled bullet - Bernie at Old West Moulds makes an excellent mold. Other than having to use a modified crimp die, they load pretty much the same. Heeled bullets were used until the inside lubricated variety came along. For instance, 38 was originally a .375 outside lubricated bullet, but then became a .357 when inside lubricated that we know today. Enjoy!!!

Yeah, I have fun Blair. I restore originals and shoot them at cowboy shoots here in New Mexico. I will opening up shop as a gunsmith here when I am done with my railroad career; I plan on dealing with 1860-1890's restorations. And lots of custom work.

Tommy . . . very nice Millington Pistol !   :)

I was craving to have some of his conversions . . . . and then got such a good deal on an original shooter ( transitional with NMA frame and Beals hammer, barrel and cylinder ) . . . .  that I no longer craved more replicas.  Then last summer got another original NMA shooter that isn't shooting yet . . . needs a little work.  ( weak spring )
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Thanks Wolfgang - I too crave originals, but they don't always present themselves when I want one!! My next goal is a Colt Burgess......
