Hello the north camp,

I cannot really express the thanks I have for my grandfather who wisely moved here from White Plains New York to the closest place to heaven you can get and still be breathing...

TEXAS.

I admit it can get a bit warm in the summer, but we only contend with about 3 months of cool weather and in that period perhaps a week or two of cold weather. Cool is defined as 60◦ to 70◦ and cold being defined here as being temperatures between 60◦ and 32◦. Anything below that is called too DAMM I cold and I cannot understand how people survive north of the Texas- Oklahoma border where it starts to get really cold.

A foot of snow in Amarillo Texas last week (about 400 miles north of here) made the news. By this weekend the forecast is to be 77◦ , so eat your heart out you poor benighted devils I feel sorry for you.

Warmly submitted
Bunk

Truer words were never spoken.

Lady Fingers and I will be meandering towards Phoenix for Winter Range shortly.  Hopefully there won't be a repeat of 2013.

Bunk, You are gonna have to get accustomed to our Texas weather. I was born in the Texas Panhandle and in 1957, we had a blizzard where we had snow drifts 9 feet deep. We had another one in 64, the drifts were about 4 or 5 feet deep. In 1980, we had over 100 days over 100 degrees temps. That, My friend is weather in Texas. I would not live any other place.

Would you guys from the southwest, quit rubbing it in.
You also shouldn't speak so glowingly of your nice winter weather.  You might get more of the people, who we are trying to get rid of, from up here in the Noreast.  Then you will be saying, there goes the neighborhood.  :o.   We said too many times, how nice our summers are, and have been suffering for it since.
FYI: it is cold, cloudy and damp year round and the Mosquitos are the size of horses, up here in Maine.  Don't move here if you love your family.

Winter here on the Wet Coast is different, but it does get tiresome. Rain & cloud are the norm with a few breaks of sunny but chiily weather.  We have just endured a bout of "Pineapple Express" weather. Wind & rain straight off the Pacific, all the way from Hawaii,

However!  Snowdrops are now in bloom with a few brave daffodils peeking up and about to spread their own brand of golden sunshine.

My very own pet daffodils, in my lawn under the fig tree, are within a week or so from blooming. Crocuses are up in colourful profusion.

Too bad about your Nor'easter in the Eastern part of the continent!

Shawnee,

Here in Florida, the mosquitos grow fur coats during the winter months.
BTW, it is going down to 39 tonight here on the Atlantic coast, will probably get to freezing in the middle of the State.
You all can expect the coast of your morning orange juice to go up in the stores by morning, even though the oranges were picked three weeks ago.

Hello Texas Law Dog,

Thanks I am quite used to Texas weather since I have been enjoying if for a long time.

I was born in Houston before the advent of non-corrosive primers but spent a couple of years a little south of Amarillo going to school. The combination of cold, ice, snow, and dust drove me back to the coastal plains and here I stayed.

Personally I consider anything above Waco too far north for me.

For all you pards freezing your keisters off  up north with a forecast here of 77° this Friday and 57° Saturday that is a Texas thing because like  they say here that if you don't like the weather, wait a minute it will change.

This is not meant to annoy or hurt any of the pards that can handle that cold weather. I salute you for the guts it takes
to take the cold.

Hold center and Stay warm
Green up is a'comin'

Dunno about Texas and Arizona but I sat on my east porch yesterday in South West Missouri in shorts and a T-shirt drinking a glass of wine and enjoying the 70 degree weather and the sunshine. :D

I get bored easily.  Continual hot or cold weather gets tiresome! Now, here along the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, Denver in particular, it can be 74 degrees (day before yesterday), and we are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow!  You don't like the weather, wait a minute!  ;)
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

The Lakota name for this month is

Moon of the Popping Trees

a time when the temperature in the Dakota Territory dipped so far below zero, what little sap still in the  in the tree branches
exploded.

If it was hard times, this is when the women pulled out their parflech bags containing the rawhide scrapings from summer projects and made a sort of desperation soup. The people would also collect pine bark to make soup and tea, which offered some little nourishment but also had the medicinal property that it kept the body from going into starvation mode and consuming itself .

I am happy to be in the Great Southwest, where the locals are concerned by an overight low of merely 15 or 20 deg F and
I have a half a pig and a hundred pounds of good rice to fall back instead of bark...

Currently recovering from quadruple by-pass surgery that included some additional complications. I am real happy to just be able to SEE the snow and lousy cold weather. Never thought it would look so good!!!! But since I haven't been able to shoot since September of 2014, I AM GOING STIR CRAZY!!

Navy Six; Hope you are on the mend.  Spring will be here soon, and us snowbound shooters will be able to put the sweet smell of black powder in the air again. I am optimistic, even though the Northeast has been dumped on the past week or so.  To much snow on my range, right now, and I ain't going to shovel off paths to set out targets.

Noz; Saw a fellow wearing shorts up here today.  Was a tad above zero.  He looked out of place, wearing a parka and heavy winter boots.  Sat on my porch the other evening, drinking a dark & stormy, was about 80 degrees.  Boy, I love that wood stove.  ;D

Blair; Those Mosquitos in Flordia must be rich, if they can afford fur coats.  Ours just shiver all winter.
