Several weeks ago I shot on the same posse as Tex (Sass #4) and Cat Ballou (Sass #55) at the Texas State SASS Championship.  Since I had not recieved any photos of the color guard as requested from a different individual I asked him if he would find and email me some photos of both the color guards.  I just got them from him and will be posting them as soon as I remember how.

The opening ceremony had food serving lines set up across the main floor so we had to split into two columns on either side of the room.  Move forward with officers in front with sabers, followed by the flag bearers, followed by the armed escorts.  When we got to the front we left and right turned and crossed the floor and faced the front of the room again with the US flag on it's own right.  Saluted during the pleadge, posted the colors then left the room via two columns again.

For the opening of the Ball the floor was clear so we were able to form a single line across shoulder to shoulder, advance forward then wheel on the center to face the front of the room.  Saluted during the pledge, post the colors and then marched off in line.  This time since we only had 5 we had 3 officers with sabers/swords and the color bearers.

That's OK Shamrock. You're in good company - no less a personage than Robert E. Lee, who made it a point of marchng out of step whenever he was required to march in any kind of procession after the cessation of the Civil War. Or so the tale goes.
