Hey all,

I'm wondering if any of you are planning on going to SASS' National Shoot in Phoenix, Az.

I noticed there are actually quite a few of us in Arizona, Utah and California particularly.  I was thinking, maybe we could try to figure out a once a year Southwest meet?  I'm bringing up the SASS national shoot just because for the most part it's incredibly well known.  It'd also be easy for other pards from way out there to be able to meet up.  But make no mistake I'm open for other ideas as well.

I'm not thinking about setting up anything too big, just somewhere, sometime, that isn't too far a drive for the couple of us to meet up, hang out, go riding, shooting, camping, etc.  It'd be great to set up camp with y'all.  Let alone doing something out in the wilderness out here, just us.  Or even just a pint at the local watering hole any time!

I'm around Kingman, Arizona basically.  I'm up in the Hualapais.  So Las Vegas, anywhere in SoCal, and Phoenix are all easy trips for me, and for those of us farther out, easy flights too.  SoCal and actually up north, in San Jose is where our (my and my girl's) families are located, so those trips are doable for sure.

To be honest, out of SASS, NCOWS, GAF, and here, I like here the most.  I like this time-period the most.  I'd much rather be building a Hawken (again), let alone try my skills on a Spanish Snaphaunce instead of buying a Henry basically.  But out here, there'd not be much reason to besides something fun to shoot every now and again.

let me know what you guys think!

Willie:
I have probably made my last primitive camp, but I keep thinking it would be fun.  Hopefully some of the younger guys like you and T-Dave can keep this going.

I'm honestly too broken to actually stay in a primitive camp... at medieval events because of where they're located I either stay in a hotel, or at my Uncle's place lol.  I cheat too.

doesn't meant at 6am it isn't fun to get up and hang out with everyone.  Or leave at 3am lol.  I just set up camp with my pards, they know it's my area, and then leave when everyone is tuckered out, and see them in the morning for cawfee and breakfast.

I feel ya pard.  Broken L4, three compressed disks, a bad knee, etc... yeah.  I may be young, but my mileage is high lol

I'd like to but my schedule just isn't happening for it. I still enjoy the primitive camping and am looking forward to the next event. Although I don't fault anyone for going the motel route, the whole experience of sleeping outdoors and overall camp life is definitely a drug to me.

Will & Fingers,

Can you post some pictures from the event. Also, I'd like to hear what you personally think about it. I am also contemplating a relocation to Arizona if there is a job opportunity that I am gunning for. I'd really be interested in hearing your thoughts on the scene out there.

The SASS National Shoot (Winter Range) is the best CAS match I've ever attended.  I've been shooting CAS for going on 16 years.
