My very first real gun was a Savage 20 gauge single shot shotgun with the real short stock, got it from the sears & Roebuck catalog when I was 8,   1958,  47 years ago but it still looks good and  still shoots fine. Started my son on it and a wife along the way.
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

Forty Rod

I sorta do.  The first one I ever shot was my Dad's and it's now mine.  The first one that was mine alone is long gone.

Sod Buster

Yup!  I still got my first gun, a Daisy BB gun.  I also have my fathers first two .22 rifles.

Luckily I still have mine.

It's a Mossberg 7 shot semi-auto rifle that the model number escapes me without going to the safe to look.

Back in the old days (1955) I put a 4X  scope on it that I've since had to replace as the cross hairs on the original seemed to just kinda disintergrate.

It still shoort .22LR HP's with superb accurracy.

I'm so glad after all these years that for whatever reason, I never saw fit to get rid of it..

Dorado Slim

Well sorta.  I got a Remington model 572 pump 22 when I was 11 years old WAYYYY BACK.  About 4 yeasr ago I gave it to my grandson when he turned 16. :)

I guess I fall into the "Sort'a" catagory.  The first gun I ever handled and shot was my Grandfather's Mossberg .22 bolt action, with about a 2X scope.  It's been mine now for over 20 years.

Yup. The first, the last and all in between. Never sold a gun in my life. ;D

Phantom Falcon

Yipper,

Colt Frontier Scout, 22LR, followed shortly thereafter by Winchester 77, 22LR.
I used to trade and swap a lot but then came GCA of 1968. Since then I mostly acquire with very little selling.

OBTW, both of these were bought in hardware stores, no paperwork other than folding money. I was 12 at the time, a long long time ago.

I graduated 8th grade in May of 1963 and with the cash I received from Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, I ordered a 22 Cal single shot bolt action from Montgomery Ward.

That $25 rifle along with a box of shells ( for $.50) sure provided alot of entertainment for me.  We all know what happened in November of '63 in Dallas, and the resulting ban on mail order guns, but waiting for the mailman to deliver that little rifle was about all I could stand.  I eventually saved up enough for a 4X Weaver to put on it.  I still have that little gun, tought all my kids to shoot with it and someday hope to teach the grandkids too. 8)

It's not like it used to be, but it'll do.

Steel Horse Bailey

Nope.  Darn it.  My 1st gun was lost to a break-in burgler.  However, the 2nd gun, which I bought the same week as the 1st, is happily in my safe.

The 1st was a Smith & Wesson Mod. 37 Chief's Special Airweight, with a special 3" barrel and square butt.  The one I still have is my first Cowboy gun, an older Marlin Golden 39A Mountie.

My first gun was a Hahn BB revolver that looked like a 45 Colt.  Powered by CO2 and it held 18 BBs.
I paid $12.95 for it back in about 1958.  I traded it for a Crossman 22 pump up about a year later.
I still have the Crossman.
About a year ago, I paid $130 for a Hahn BB revolver ANIB !!!!  So I still have my "first" gun - sorta :D

I bought my first firearm last year and still own it!  ::)   It is the Colt 1860 that I have shown pics of here before.

I had BB guns as a kid, and shot many .22's and other guns; Just never owned a firearm until recently.

Old Dude

My first gun was a 1903A-3 that I got from the CMP in about 1962. That thing was a few months older than I was.

I lent it to a friend in about 1980. Don't know where the friend, or the gun, is now.

No problem is so simple that it cannot be made unclear by the application of logic and language.

El Peludo

Yep, you bet!  An early Colt Python 6 incher.  I also have one of the first guns that I ever hunted with, too - a family IJ single barrel .410; been in the family since my Dad could remember.  He always said it was for snakes, but as far as I know, no snake ever met it's demise by that shotgun.  However, a sizeable number of quail did.  I have only ever sold one gun, and I really didn't sell it - I traded it for two others.  ;) ;D

Hello the fire,

The first gun that I bought got me into this sport, I bought a 73 Winchester in the early 60's spent two days finding ammo for it, only found a 1/2 box of 44-40.  Shot it put it in the gun case and had not shot it since.  My pard Curly Cole decided that we needed to get into CAS so I brought it out of retirement and found  that I could get ammo for it now, matched it up with a brace of 75 Remmingtons, and an old double barrel.  It is a short rifle with a bull barrel, mountain front sight, and all plumb coulor, nicked, scraped and missing the dust cover and rear sight adjustment, a barrel that looks like the moon.  Still shoots straght and works better then I do.

I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

Silver_Rings

Don't have the first gun I bought, it was a Marlin 57M, traded it on my first CF pistol a Colt Gold Cup back in 1970.  Still have the Gold Cup and the very first pistol I ever bought a High Standard 22 target pistol.  :) :)

No, funny enough I gave it away. I gave to my best friend for no real reason, I just thought he'd like it. It was a peacemaker copy in .45 LC, color cased with a brass grip frame and trigger guard and a 5-1/2" barrel. Shot straight as an arrow and felt darn good in the hand. I had no reason for ginving to him besides I thought I thought he'd enjoy it. At the time the best gun he had was a iver johnson in .38 S&W, and I really thought he'd enjoy the peacemaker (and the lower cost of ammo). Since then his gun collection has grown much bigger and nicer, but it still hangs on his wall in the same way you'd hang a flag on a flag pole.
