Glue gun glue...my fellow 10 gauge enthusiast!

I have shot paper, plastic and brass hulls with no failures ever - regardless of heat, cold and or rain.

Please listen to Poney Racer.  I use to use Elmers and had failures.  I started with the hot glue gun and it works great.  Cheap easy to use and IT WORKS!!!!!!  12 gage and 10 gage with brass hulls.  I shoot pretty heavy loads and I've never had a failure since shift over.

I looked at the array of hot glue guns at Wally-World the other day.  I got overwhelmed by the variety.  Looks like they break down from baby size to industrial heavy duty, hot hot, cold hot and hot and cold hot, big stick and little stick, long and short stick and colors.  Would I just use it to glue in top cards or would I find other uses? Too many choices.   I'll need to think on it a bit more.  ::)

Try a Dollar Store, or a craft store. Mine is a pretty basic small-stick type and is useful for many craft projects. We don't use it often, but when there is a small thing needing sticking, it's there.

Does anyone have experience with Cheddite 10 gauge hulls? Good or bad?  I've got Winchester 209 primers. Will they work ok in the Cheddite huoos?

That's what is available new that I can walk in and pick up. $61 / 100 before tax.
i get good results with cheddite hulls . I use some pyro as it don't leave the little kernals that burn holes in the plastic hulls.

Well, I'm back to loading 10 gauge cowboy loads again.   This time I have some really nice hulls to work with and a good deal more experience. A cowboy buddy sold me 42 UMC 10 gauge nickel plated hulls. They were blown out too much to fit in the chambers of my new Remington 1889,  but I got them sized down.   The primer pockets were too shallow but I have a pocket reamer that recut them to the right depth.

I'm shooting them in my Remington 1889 10 gauge. Powder is BlackMZ,  9 gauge over powder wad, 1/2" thick 10 gauge wad, 1 oz reclaimed shot,  and split 9 gauge over powder card for over shot card.  Using Duco glue.   They are most pleasant to shoot in a 8.75 lb double.

The old gun has 32" barrels.  The right barrel is tighter choke than left. I'll have to shoot it like a rifle to hit the knock downs.

Practicing "Necromancy" again are we??   :o

Well ....... A while back, when I was first attacked by a rabid All Brass 12Ga Hull, I also found a serious LUST for a 10Ga Hammer
coach gun.  Serious lust.  I think I hit every antique and estate auction for a 150 mile radius, in search of a Hammer Double with
fluid steel barrels.
Then, one day, I thought, but what about 10Ga Hulls???  After all, the hulls had to be All Brass too.  All I could find were the new
manufacture hulls at Track of The Wolf.  After reviewing the coast per cartridge, and receiving sufficient CPR to get me breathing
again, I gave up my quest for a 10Ga.  I sorta felt $182.50 or there abouts (plus shipping) was just a mite too rich for my limited
retirement income.

Had I, at that time, happened upon Bibbyman's nest of Nickel Plate 10Ga eggs, I'd still be questing for a 10Ga hammer double.  I
have, instead, settled for my 12Ga hammer doubles.

12 gauge can be fed at about 1/10 the cost of 10 gauge.  Best bet is to find one of the Spanish imports from the 1980s.  I'd sure hate to see any old original cut down.

I know where there is a CG Bonehill 10 gauge already cut to 18". Not a speck of bluing left on it.  It has tall, big eared hammers like the Colt 1878.  It just screams Cowboy.  It may have been there and done that.   It's pretty loose and has been blacksmithed some already.   The owner wants $1000.

I have an LC Smith hammer gun 10 gauge coming.   It'll need a major stock repair at least.

Whats next?  8 gauge?   ::)

Years ago Cuts Crooked & I used to shoot with a fella who shot Warthog 10 ga. BP loads in a SxS. He loaded either 110 or 120 gr. of BP in the shells. The knockdowns went down faster than a starving hooker at a Kiwani's convention!!!  :o When he touched one off it was like this:

Who needs ten gauge?

My wife will tell you that I do.

I've started a active retirement home for abused and neglected old doubles.  I'm bad about picking up a bargain when I run across it.  Realizing I can't save them all,  I'm trying to limit my choices to hammer doubles and prefer 10 gauge.  I have an LC Smith 10 gauge hammer double that should be in my hands early next week.
