thanks for all the advice everyone, it's really appreciated.

I was a long range and advanced tactical instructor during my time.  But man, I don't want to treat my kid like one of my "other kids."  Even though most of them were actually older than me at the time.  I was only 20-24.  For me, it's just pretty much instinctive now.  I guess I still have that Irish baby-face, and every time I go into a gun store without my hat or jacket, in a store that doesn't own me, they watch me like a hound to a duck.  Then they see how I handle them and relax... it's kinda funny in a way, I just roll with it.

It's been in the 50's, 60's here.  I woke up today all "broken."  Could barely get my leg to work.  Wouldn't you know it, damp and dark low clouds a'coming.

We don't have WaWa... but at least we have what's called "Gas'n'Grub."  Honest to God, I think they're the same concept, I love that little store.  Ours even has hitchin posts out front in three out of the four in town. ;)  They're used too.  Can't wait til I'm one of them.

again thanks for the help y'all.  We have a gun show this Saturday we're going to ;D  looking at purdies.  Last one had an original Starr revolver!  We went to some local stores today, little half-pint was well behaved and excellent.  Her Mom has definitely decided the old Henry, or 32" 73's, or Sharps aren't her thing.  She loved the '92 trapper actually.  Looked like it was a 18" model.  We're looking for a 73 that size, since we're shooting blackpowder and I like the openings in the receiver.

but right now, we're looking at pistols.  She was drooling over a brass-framed old, OLD Colt Navy.  Her timing was amazing, good gun all round, but $150... and I couldn't get the wedge out to check her frame and such.  Good news the store knows me and knows I know my BP guns... we just all couldn't get it out lol.

Turns out there's a SASS affiliated store hidden in town we didn't know about.  We're heading back into town tomorrow to check them out.  Wish us luck!  ;D  Right now, she's drooling over the 61 round-barreled Navies...  Not going to lie, I've never been partial to 'em, I like the older octagon ones myself.  Don't mean they wouldn't fit right at home in our growing collection though.

The Cawffee and Hot water are ready for Drinking. Enjoy! The last of the cardboard sleeve cinnamon rolls are in the microwave, ready to be nuked. I am on my second cup, and the girls are sleeping in the back. Victoria sleeps on my side of the bed, when I am not there. The Weekend starts today, with some rain predicted. I mowed the yards and vacuumed up the leaves, I will be glad when the oak trees are done. They are beautiful when they are green. I have 10 of them in my front yard, about 50 feet tall and about 160 years old.

27 and dark here. Short day today, then a long day for the concert band. Set up this afternoon and a dress rehersal with the "kiddies" at the school. Back at it at 5:30 this afternoon for a brass choir, then a concert about 7:30 during the kids break. Then a  short gig with the kids. Maybe finished by about 8:45 or so. LOOONG day ::)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

WD check Cabala's,  brand new 51 STEEL Navy's are on sale.... for just a few dollar's over the over priced brasser you looked at.
And if you use the $20 off coupon, on orders over $100 , it will be cheaper & I think free shipping :-\ ... at least look before you leap  :)

Thanks for the coffee, and I think toast will work this morning.

Them brass frames are great, ain't worth a hoot for shooting and when people find out they sell them at scrap price, most times the timing is off a bit.  No problem, blacken the brass and make a blank gun out of it.

thanks for the cawfee TLD.

yeah, I know about Cabela's.  It's about 190 miles away from me to the closest one, down in Phoenix.  I love that store.  It's just right now I'm trying to stay local and give business to people who need it.  I know about the sales though, I'm drooling over the lightly engraved blued Navies with the polyivory grips.  They'd be great shooters.

Basically, we'll go check out the SASS affiliated store later today, Momma and half-pint went out this morning for groceries.  Tomorrow is the gun show, and then there's a great store down in Bullhead too, near my friend's place we always go to on Saturdays for sword and archery practice.

As I was telling her yesterday, "it's brass, it'd be hard to tell if it's any good without getting that wedge out, and I'm tired of 'trailer queen paper weights.'" ;D

Well I suppose I should keep my trap shut, but it's hard... :-\

Personally, WD I would not buy the brass frame , local or not ... ( even if the Shop was owned by my best friend )
heck, you just might be if you unburden him with the purchase  ::)

Fact is, Del said it about as "genuinely gently" as I believe I ever heard him say an opinion on somethin  :-\

Was suppose to be Sunny & 63°.....  ::)  but that never happened ...was overcast and gloomy & 59°
Cloudy & 54° now....

Well we are taking the grandkids to Christmas in the Country at the local Western riding establishment.

They usually have Chuck Wagon meals available, I'll have to see if they cook them authentic like Del does.

There is a mounted shooting demonstration tomorrow down in Currituck, daughter wants to go and check it out.

It is still overcast, with a little drizzle added in. I found a frozen dinner in the deep freeze and nuked in the microwave. It was not that bad. No clue for supper tonight.

I must agree, Colt style brass framed revolver are a poor choice as an investment.

My cheap ole inexpensive ASM copy of a G 'n G in '36 ran pretty well for several months worth of shoots. Stuffed it with 16 gr. true Black Powder (always capitalize Black Powder) 'n round balls. Had a lot of fun with it. N'er been abused.  No doubt she'd go now if need be.  But, I only have $40.00 in it. More'n that I wouldn't bought it.

Mebbe the bird'll keep quiet tomorrow, M2. Shift change was it 0649.

Huntin' here went right good.

HK up, Sterlin' down.  Had two trespassers in their territory. One I saw 'n one I didn't. No free-for-alls while I was there.

Did spaghetti. Batchin' it tomorrow. Thinkin' of hot Italian sausage, cabbage 'n 'taters in beer.

Hearin' the sandman tryin' ta sneak 'round. Gonna beat 'im to it.

Good "formation flying" shot.

I expect with 16gr that brasser would last a good while. Might be different if you stuffed 24 gr in it, I only ever had one spout for my C&B pistol flask, 24 gr. Used a bunch of it in some 1860 Armys, and some in my .36 '51 Navy, too. But the Navy wasn't a brass one, but a 2nd Gen Colt, it didn't seem to mind the 24gr charge at all.

Delmonico

Yep, at 15 grains the strain ain't that much, the full 25-26 is what loosens them up and most people load them up that full.
