Thanks for the coffee,TLD ;)

26 and dark here. Got a light dusting of snow overnight. Gotta go get the deck for the Kubota today as the shop has it repaired now, plus we've got to remove some locks at a home the company repurchased and get them rekeyed. Seems the previous owners didn't leave the keys when it was sold ::) :o :-\
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Willie, I'm at about the same place as you, oldest is 5, she likes to go do things with dad, but hasn't shown any interest in doing anything herself with the guns yet. She'll watch me shoot sometimes, but that's it. Got her own set of kid size pink hearing protection. Sometimes she likes to help with the reloading, I let her sort cases after cleaning them and things like that. Mom doesn't have much interest in them either, but at least she's not against them. Not much recreational shooting for her to be around, growing up in the Philippines. Legal ownership is pretty restricted there, but somehow the communist and muslim rebels always seem to have all they want. In 6 years here with me, she probably hasn't shot 50 rounds. Buy she does know how to carry a rifle, at some point in her school years, they taught the kids some marching drill with dummy rifles.

Major 2

WD it could be a 42.... They are all just tad before my time...and I knew 42 would be the rarest bird....sorta ruled it out  :-\
It did have a hood emblem that looked like the 42 come to think of it.

As kids & guns.... I was SUPER careful with my little girl, now 25, and she knew they were off limits , none were loaded and all were locked   up....except for the wall hangers ( which were Original C&B or Flinters )

I on the other hand, I was around guns pretty early I suppose. I had every manor of toy guns , loved them looking back.
Many looked far more like the real thing than orange plastic tip crap they sell today.
I was shooting 22's early with my Dad & Uncle, course live fire was only with them... But I do recall being allowed to handle them
unloaded when ever I wanted to.
The first larger than 22 I ever shot was my Dads 32/20 Hand Model maybe about 9 or 10 years old  :-\
He gave me that gun when I was about 22 or 23  , and I still have it. I have the 22 Rifle I learned on too.

Dad & Uncle Slim taught me the proper way to handle any gun, I still respect and handle them with extreme care...
Clean them with the same care ....
"She" that is my wife, was Miami PD officer, I know she shot to qualify & carried , and she owns a CC revolver for home protection.
( I gave it to her ) But she does not shoot these days .
We both have revolvers loaded at home & handy, and I carry CCW. The rest are in a gun safe.
Kelly (daughter)  is out on her own,  so it's just the two of us....

I guess my point is you can never be too careful, but looking back to my childhood, I'd say , though nothing ever happened
Compared with today gun culture with safes , and all sort of locks , my own rearing was rather loose  :o

Clear and a little frost this morning. Iam back to work today.

No WaWa's in Alabama - i would get a sandwich at one in Fredricksburg occassionally on the way to matches. I enjoyed their coffee and donut counter. Get my coffee from the Shell now got a small krispy kreme rack there. If you are early or way late at night. Boiled oeanuts too.

Pecans didn't amount to much this season brought the price up at local retailers and the farm market.  Only got a half bucket here from the 3 trees. Trying to make sure squirrels bluejays and crows got some. Mostly the squirrels.
The other trees are bare now,

Made up another batch of jerky yesterday. Made some with a little kick, spicy and another just using Dale's marinate.
Gonna vacuum seal them this morning yet. First a biscuit and coffee.

OK, not so sure on the 46, when I get it open it's a Pontiac, not a shimmy, same body, different trim and back then, different driveline when new.

Off to Russ's Market, called her, told her since I don't have to work today what did she want for supper?  Said she didn't care and I said, "good."    She changed her mind, she decided she wanted salisbury steak.  ;D

I ask to be nice, sometimes I just make and you can eat it or fix your own.   As always, no good deed goes un-punished.

El Peludo

'46 - '47 Olds coupe.  Pretty nice one.

Good early - for me - morning, thanks for the cuppajoe.  Had us a couple of not-planned-for house guests last night, wound up sleeping light and waking up real early when they started stirring about.  Bella's Mom rents a small place on a private street that has a community well for water service.  Well, the well took a vacation about nine last night, and left nine homes without water, so we took Donna and Bella in for the night; and possibly a few more.  Donna heads to work at around 0600, so I got up when she started moving around.  Bella was sick this morning, so she is home for the day.

Guns and hunting were not tradition in my family, so I learned to handle guns, and shoot when I was a Webelos in Cub Scouts.  The Scout troop was sponsored by a VFW post, and they set up a shooting program in the troop, with NRA sanctioned training; when the boys made Webelos, or reached ten years old, they were allowed and encouraged to join the shooting program, and I could hardly wait.  My folks didn't object, but they just were not "into it" themselves.  I grabbed onto the concept and practice with a vengeance, and never got over it.  I have shot competitively since I started shooting, and hunted off and on through the years.

I started my boys when I thought they were ready, both at about ten; could probably have started earlier, though, started our Grands as early as six.  However, my kids, all of them, are/were taught that "real" guns were not toys, how they were different, and how to treat and respect them for what they could do in the wrong hands.  I taught the rules first, and quite emphatically, and would not let them even handle a firearm, or even a toy, until they had the "tens" down pretty pat, and I felt they were ready.  They all got to go to the range with me from an early age, and got used to the noise and learned how and why of eye and ear protection; then, when I thought they were ready, I started them on a single shot .22 rifle and worked our way up from there as far as they were comfortable.  We always emphasize safety, and "Pa" is the "BOSS" on the range; I emphasize that to everyone who goes to the range with me; I tell the kids (and the occasional adult) that commands are not suggestions, they are orders and will be obeyed without question.  I tell them that I will interfere if I feel the need to, and that if I grab them or otherwise lay hands on them, they must not resist because it is for the safety and security of all of us.  Fortunately, I have never had to do that.  I have qualified myself through the NRA, and taught several of their friends, with their parent's permission, of course.  And, I have enjoyed almost every minute of it.  One thing I have learned, and try to practice, is that you can lead and educate, but you have to let them choose their own pace and limits, and don't try to force, short of enforcing safety.

Well, I have been awake for several hours, now, much earlier than I am becoming accustomed to, and feeling muzzy headed, even with a couple of cups of cawfee in me; I might just have to go take a nap.

Later.

Sorry Hairy One, I still claim Pontiac, not the Indian hood orniment and the wide chrome down the center of the hood and will have the same on the trunk.  Pontiac it is.   ;)  Also the bars in the Olds grill would be like a frown.

My first lesson in firearms safety came about with trying cap guns out in the store.
This was to see if the toy cap pistol had a trigger that I could squeeze and, of course use. (I was about 5 years old)
Well, I found one in the toy department that I could reach and pulled it down.
First thing I did was pull the trigger, and the cap gun went BANG! Someone had put a roll of caps into the gun.
Scared the heck out of me, to the point I almost wet myself. Probably with great amusement to the toy department manager.
Lesson learned!
My best,
Blair

Saw this on the way to the store, wonder if they've had trouble with people opening the faucet and filling up at a stop light? ::)

Looked at the hood emblem it was winged shield with bow-tie in it... the quadrant-ed shield looks kinda Caddy background-ish .
Goggled Chevy emblems,  and 42  Chevrolet Special Deluxe matched it ...

So I guess WD gets the cookie  :)  as I said it's a restro mod ... interior was tan suede

I relooked and the hood trim isn't wide enough for the Pontiac.   I will stay with the year 1946 because the grill lacks the center bar.  46 on top, 42 on bottom.

Hey, y'all.

Mebbe it's a Holden, the folks what built the last GTOs. New ones disguised as an 'SS' got chebby thru the last Sprint Cup season. GM has a history with that division makin' 'All American' cars.

OFSDAR thingy was right much fun. Got breezy 'n comin' from up range. Reminded me of shootin' the bird Monday without the mist. Cold on the face 'n toasty e'erwhere else. Done the first couple stages a l'il slow. Been awhile. Wheels fell of on three 'n went downhill from there. T'was good ta shoot a gun rather'n a camera. Been two months. Highly unusual for me. Get 'em next time......

Done chicken noodle soup out a box with some leg 'n breast meat mixed in it. Best I could come up with for the evenin'. Best I can come up with for now is goin' nity-nite.
