Hello!  I'm considering converting a 3 screw Blackhawk .357 into a .44 Special.  Will a New Model Super Blackhawk barrel fit the Old Model frame?  Also, just out of curiosity, will the 50th Anniversary .44 cylinders fit an Old Model frame?  (I'll probably have the old cylinder rechambered, but it's nice to know my options.)  Thanks!

I'll see if I can find out if the barrel threads on the "old" model are the same as the "new" model.
Do you have a spare Super Blackhawk Ruger that you'd part out?
I'm not sure where you would ever get a 50th Anniversary .44 cylinder.   ???

Just asking...

Gregg,  I don't have a Super Blackhawk to part out, but you can still find take-off barrels pretty reasonably at times.  I don't know where I'd find a 50th Anniversary cylinder either, but you never know!  As it is, the whole project is probably way too expensive for me to take on.  I've got the next best thing anyway.  I bought one of the 50th Anniversary .44 Magnum Flat Tops and rebarreled it with a 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk barrel.  I also installed a Power Custom hammer/trigger set that REALLY made a difference.  Great pistol, by the way.  I just always like the way the 3-screw actions feel.

This project is starting to come together!  I got a .44 Special cylinder on Gunbroker, and I just received a 4 5/8's Blackhawk barrel from Clements Custom Guns.  The 3-screw Blackhawk should be on the way in a couple of days.  Woo hoo!
