At work, had E-mail asking if we mail catalogs, no address to mail it too. ::)  Said yes and gave them the number off the website.  Dropped it in their lap, that's what they should have done or at least E-Mailed the catalog dept. ::)

Morning y'all.

'Tis 34 and cloudy. Sn*w is melting. "Not as cold. Cloudy. A chance of light rain...drizzle and freezing drizzle in the morning...then a slight chance of light rain and drizzle in the afternoon. Areas of fog in the morning. Highs in the lower 40s. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent."

I love the smell of Black Powder in the morning!

Blair

I was 14 at the time and we were living in Savannah, GA.
I didn't hear about it until after the school day ended.
There was a real Hate-Love relation with the Kennedy's in the deep South during this time.
This may account for there being no announcements being made over the School intercom?
Along with all the school name changes the fallowing year, NASA's Cap Canaveral was changed to Cap Kennedy.

I was 5 then, suppose I was in kindergarden. I do remember it being on the TV, pre-empting whatever cartoon I wanted to watch at the time(That might have been the funeral, though....after all, I was just 5).

Didn't have an intercom in our school to announce it, we just had 4 rooms, kindergarden had one, all the next six grades were two to a room. Teacher still rang a big hand bell to signal recess.

Delmonico

We didn't have no intercom either, they just came around from the office and told the teacher.

We had a science teacher who was in the AF reserve, he got called up during the Cuban Missle crisis in 61. Moose fixed us some toast this morning. It is a damp, drizzly day, not really cold, just damp. Beef stew is planned for Supper tonight.

I was a sophomore in HS when Kennedy was shot. It is still drizzling and damp.

El Peludo

I was with my crew drilling rock for dynamite loads to blast out holes to set power poles in, Stovepipe Canyon/Pipes Canyon north of Yucca Valley, California.  That was a long day; our job got put on hold and we sat out the rest of the day waiting for something to happen, and The Navy contacted me through my employer and put me on short notice standby for recall for a couple of days.

Thanks for the coffee this morning.  Cool here, was 42 when I turned on the infernal machine; clear/high thin clouds to the north, slight breeze.

Gonna try to get a big mirror hung today.

Y'all have a good one.

Later.

El Peludo,

It was about 12 years after the Kennedy Ass. that I got into hard rock mining.
I finished School and spent two years with Underwater Salvage Diving, four years in the Navy in Aviation Ordnance and two years going to gunsmith school.
Hard rock mining paid good for the time period. I was a Raise Bore operator. The crew drilled 8 foot to 12 foot dia. holes in solid rock with this machine, and did all of our own drilling, loading and shooting.
I am glad for the experience. Don't think I would have wanted to do it for the next 35 to 40 years.

The Trinity Kid

Mornin' y'all.

I'd tell y'all where I was 51 years ago....  but my dear old father was not quite born yet (following October).  ::)  Your daily dose of being called old pharts. ;)

We have one of our strange weather things happening here.  40 on the mercury tube, sunny, and raining...on one side of the house.  Still can't figure it out.

Gonna have my mejor amigo over this afternoon to watch the Cats/ Griz game.  One of the few games I care about.

TK, You are a young whippersnapper! I am 67 years old and lucky to have lived that long. I survived 40 years in LE and I am enjoying my well deserved retirement. My birthday is in October as well.
