Mornin'.

Supposed ta push seventy 'n a heavy mist out. Wet 'nuff to keep my copy of our flag in the house. The Veterans (upper case intended) are in my heart nonetheless.

Made an early trip to the place what'll be doin' the oil changes 'til further notice. Changed managers it t'other one. Wanted ta sell me 'nuff stuff ta rebuild the station wagon last visit. Kinda like Ford did, they told me they didn't want my bidness no more with a crummy product 'n werse service.

Challenger showed up the Philadelphia game yesterevenin'. This'll be in my head all day:

Happy Armistice Day to all here. Was 70 yesterday, now 32, but no wet stuff as of yet. Supposed to get colder yet, with highs of low 30's later this week. Cold and nasty for the upcoming opening day of deer season. Last few years it's been warm on opening day, but usually with lots of wind. I guess if I don't have the wind, I'll just deal with it.

OK, this is something that developed a couple years ago when I was making Irish Soda bread, , a friend with a bit of food knowledge also was in the crowd watching and he knew I would follow his lead well, we've done it a couple times all impromptu and I decided to write a basic script up in case I want to do it some time when John ain't around, all someone needs to do is home in on the key words and make it up as they go along.

By-stander: What are those little round things you are adding to that?

Me: Those are currants.

By-stander: My Grandma had some currant bushes and she made currant jelly.

Me: These are not the same currants; these are a small seedless raisin made from a small grape native to the Mediterranean region and named currant for the isle of Curin.   The currant your Grandma made the jelly from is a bush related to the gooseberry,

By-stander: Oh, my Great Aunt used to raise Cape-gooseberries and made preserves out of them.

Me: Well that ain't the same thing either, the gooseberry I'm talking about that is related to currant is really nothing but a currant that has thorny stems instead of being thornless  and the fruit is generally picked green instead of ripe.

The Cape gooseberry is related to the tomato and the tomatillo, it has a smaller fruit that turns a yellowish color and has a husk on it like a tomatillo.  They are often called ground cherries.

By-stander: Well I like cherry pie.

Me: Yeah but that cherry is from the rose family and is related to apples and strawberries.

And that is why we have taxonomic names, to avoid the confusion with common names, except they keep changing some of those also.

Could get Pony Express to do it at a muster, I bet you could pull it off, I am sure Dale or Jerry could not do it with a straight face and it wouldn't work if someone giggled.

I mowed the yards this morning, it was a little nippy. I put on a jacket and gloves, and it wasn't too bad. I had to go to  Kinko's to send some fans and now I am back home. Beef Stew is planned for supper tonight.

Afternoon y'all.

First off, I am going to vent a bit of frustration.  We are the only people on our street to be flying a flag today. >:(

Weather is cloudy, though it appears to be clearing up.  Thermometer says 42 right now.  S'posed to get into the high 50s.  low was just at freezing last night.

Lunch needs eating.  Y'all enjoy your day.
