I tried a test pull on one corner of the carpet, and it comes up quite easily!  My problem is going to be what to do with it after I get it all up!  ???

Menards ...heard of them, know the kid or someone related races NASCAR and they are in the Mid West ... beyond that, none in the South.
We've got Home Depot & Loews,  and there are or were several other home improvement center chains that went belly up
like Scotty's , Builders Square, Gold Triangle , Home Quarters , Lindsley Lumber Co.
Of those, only Home Quarters did not have stores in Florida ( though I'd shop there in Virginia ) and there's probably 6 Home Depot's in short driving distance, before you get to a Loews , lease here anyway.
I do quite a bit of Business with HD and have contractor account with them & Loews...

Weather is gloomy today gray, chilly & rainy about 60° ....left over roast & spuds is in the crock pot warming for this evening
Nathan's dogs for lunch...me thinks  :)

Recycle Russ ... I know you can recycle the pad ....
course the most fun you'll have is the perimeter tack strips ... nasty little stabbers they are  ::)

That's how I knew of them , Jim ... the INDY thing and NASCAR...

Remember when Domino's Pizza had INDY Cars, sponsored Al Unser & Danny Sullivan ?  And the Domino's Pizza 500 ?

Like ta have a Menard's here. Home whatever had crummy personnel, 'Don't you gotta truck? We ain't got it, go to Bed Bath 'n Beyond.' Lowe's, better werkers, association with thieves is a turn off for an out-to-pasture cop. Do Ace 'n/or True Value whenever practical.

Ennyways...

Neat stuff at the rodeo:

Twisted Sister, Lucky Peach 'n Malbon's together 'n that's what we hit. Had other stuff we didn't.

Cupcakes from TS, chowder 'n sandwich for the Peach 'n ribbon fries from Malbon's. Gotta werk on duplicatin' the chowder.

Weather was damned near perfect.

All I did was name it 'n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.

You can have our Menards, won't go back to the North one at all, they are lucky the place survived in tact after my problems with them, went to pick up something my wife bought the day before with my pick-up, finally went in an Emplyee's only door and found some doing nothing.  Then they wanted me to come back cause they couldn't find the stuff, finally did.  Then I told the gate guy if he didn't want me to drive right on through the gate don't open it.

That and the tack strips made my fingers into a blood mess. The county had a dumpster area i took it too. Just cut it down to small pieces so i could handle.

Yeah, forgot about ACE...course they aren't on the big box scale as the others.....
for that kinda hardware, I like this OLD family run place, narrow aisles and jammed with even older dusty stuff.

Use Home Quarters just a few time when I was on Location in Richmond ("Ironclads"& "True Colors") & Manassas ( "End of Innocence" ) not enough to form an opinion though :-\.

Did get into a heated discussion once with HD pro loader ( a what joke that is ) minimum wage moron with apron sign "PRO LOADER".
They should give them a cap with an L  for looser not loader !

Nice cool and wet weather for here in FL.
Anybody up for chilly?
I kind of like the "garbage gut" type of chilly with everything in it.

I plan on cutting the stuff into 2'x12' (the room is 12' wide) strips before I pull it.  Then roll it up as I go.  Should make it fairly easy to handle.
She-who-still-works was nice enough to empty all her outside plants into the trash today, so I have no room to put the carpet.  I guess I pile it in the garage next to her car as a smidge of payback.
I use a pair of channellock  pliers to get ahold of the critter, so I keep my fingers away from that "tacky" strip.
Have to switch to her laptop tomorrow, as the mainframe (my desktop is going away for the duration, shortly).

There's a story of a local Chili contest, one of the winners was asked what his secret was. His answer: he went to the local grocery store, and bought one can of each brand of canned chili they had, and dumped them all into one big pot, stirred it up and heated it up and Voila! Winning chili!

Had about everything but chili at the church dinner today, still too full to eat anything.

Finally got the old "A" Farmall going good today, had to give up on the carb that was on it and take one off another tractor I had. Took that one apart, sprayed some canned carb cleaner through all the passages, put back together and it runs like a top. Even started it with the crank once, took three pulls. Old carb must have some hidden chunk of crud that just won't come out. Even soaked it in carb cleaner for 3 or 4 days once.

My wife made chili soup for dinner, was pretty good, had some buttered bread with it to help fill me up(2 bowls didn't do it)

Evenin' y'all.

Had a 4-H meeting today.  first one I've been to since before I got on CASCity(I think?).  It went okay, I s'pose.

Have a math test tomorrow, so I'm going to get some rest.

I'm hard core about my chili, very traditional, real meat not burger, tomatoes, some onions and my spice mix of 1/2 ground cumin, 1/4th ground coriander and 1/4 oregano and the red only pepper mix to suit the crowd, ain't done till the wooden spoon will stand on it own, no added thickener, just simmered down 8-12 hours.

If you want green peppers in it, gonna get it with pork and tomatillas  not maters as per traditions older than us, old traditions need to be followed or them yuppie liberals will gain another toehold, saw two of them in Prius when I was heading to work, they drove on past the turn off and headed on east, was afraid they'd show up, come in and then pretend like they actually knew what they were talking about.    No yuppies today, just a few wanna be red-necks, just about as bad as yuppies.

I had another long day of football watching, this time it was pro football. The Broncos won big, The Cowboys won in London, and Slim's Packers crushed Da Bears.
