from Cimarron Arms with steel bs/tg, would it come with a flat mainspring or a coil mainspring?

I am interested in a 38/40 that would become my 'Colt', since I cannot afford an original.  But being traditional, the pistol must have at least the flat mainspring.  I could live with the plunger pawl.

Thanks

Real Colts and the Uberti and Pietta clones do not have coil mainsprings.  If you want a coil mainspring get a Ruger.

Lefty Dude

By the term plunger pawl, are you meaning the Hand Plunger/Spring ?

If so, all new Uberti's & pietta's have this as the hand spring assy.

Black River Smith

Thanks for both replies, they answered both of my questions and concerns.

I thought I read where Uberti had changed the mainspring to the new coil system, glad they did not.

There is a specific Uberti model with a coil main spring. It's not standard on all Uberti revolvers.

Maybe that is what I saw but did not realize that it was just specific to one model.

The Uberti Horseman is the renamed Beretta Stampede....
Uberti being part of the Beretta Holding SpA

Uberti produced the Stampede in several versions w/ the transfer bar and Coil main spring with the Beretta badge.
They also produced the 73 Lever Rifle with the Beretta badge, called the Renegade...
both were discontinued as a Beretta line,  but carry on with Uberti logo's

The Beretta Laramie also discontinued, is now produced as the New Model #3 S&W by Uberti.

Mean Bob:    Thanks for the lead.  I may need it.  The dealer does not show 38/40's from their suppliers that list from Cimarron.

PM Abilene, he works at Cimarron.  Also, ask these folks to look around for you:

3B Shooting Supply

mailto:  ThreeB.Shooting@att.net

They sell tons of stuff from Cimarron and always seem to have an odd duck or two on hand.  There are a few on Gunbroker, but I think all varying barrel lengths.

I would take one additional tack:  I would put Want To Buy notices on teh SASS wire and here because it is likely someone has a pair they don't use and will part with them.

Mean Bob:  Again thanks for the new lead.  I will give 3B a call.

I see that 3B gives a discount to NCOWS menbers, too bad I let my NCOWS membership end in 2013 after 13 years.

Thanks
