Heck when I explained it to her I also tole her it was a good thing it was still Oct cause haulin' iron ore in November is dangerous. ;D

The captain wired in he had water comin' in
and the good ship and crew was in peril.
And later that night when 'is lights went outta sight
came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Arcey, I have that physical thing to look forward to in a week or so. It is not my favorite thing, especially the blood letting.

Here's what my Virginia Creeper (nobody make any reference to Arcey now) is lookin' like.  Looks like Monday will be the last mowing of the season, then I'll winterize the sprinklers at the end of  the month.

Russ T your cultivating that? We spray it with round up or salt water. It is has bad as Kudzu.

Okay nothing is bad as Kudzu. Stand still 30 seconds and it will grow up on you.

May get a rain storm here this afternoon.

Not sure if i posted this yet- seems our friends at peta haven't got enough attention lately. So they rehearsed this found a real drama queen to speak for them.
In Snow's honor i prepared a nice "snow salad" for tomorrows tailgate. I used chopped pecans from the tree in the yard. The squirrels and Blue jays and crows turkeys and deer will just have to go with out. The grapes i used come from the arbor in the garden, i swear i could hear the vines weep as i plucked their children from yhe grasp. The bird i chose came from the aweful heathen retailer, and was bought with earnst coins. Not stolen from a hard working family trying to prosper from their labor.

Somethings up with my computer here. I clicked on that picture Russ T posted, and now the sucker won't go away! I close it, and it just pops back up 5 seconds later. Gave up on trying to close it, just minimized it instead, and it stayed down. If it was a picture of some Kudzu, then I would expect it to be hard to get rid of! Those creepers we just grap a handfuland pull it down off the tree, then pull it op and toss it. Just be sure it's really all Virginia Creeper and no Poison Ivy mixed in, they like to grow together here sometimes.

Here in northern Nevada all it takes is a little napalm applied in the late autumn with the liberal use of a sharp machete, and then it comes back the next spring as a nice piece of ground cover.  Repeat as required each year!  So far I have kept it under control for about 6 years.  I got a kick out of the guy at the garden center when he referred to it as an "evasive" species.   As I have never had a problem finding it, I assumed he meant "invasive".

The Trinity Kid

Vinca.  We had 2 stalks on the hill behind our house...  Now we have a well vined hill.  I've dug most of it up, but it just comes right back...

Today has not gone very well.  Alarm didn't go off, then some work I was doing took longer than expected, so we left for the city later.  Then there was road work.  And, as if that wasn't enough, we got stuck behind a really slow person (I'm not sure if he wasn't too old for a license).  I walked in to class 5 minutes late...

I'm gonna try and get some stuff done now,

Don't think the doc found any that creeper stuff on me this mornin'. Did he didn't say nothin' 'bout it 'n there come a time when I didn't have nothin' on ta cover it up with if it was growin' somewhere.

Ennyways. Meant ta say earlier, got asked multiple times if I'd been ta Liberia er Texas recently. Tolt 'em I didn't remember but I was feelin' a l'il nauseous 'n feverish after talkin' with a pard in Dallas. That got rid of the nurse.

Phlebotomist asked what I was doin' for the weekend. Tolt 'er I was gonna be chasin' eagles some Saturday. Asked if I was gonna hunt 'n shoot 'em. Geezzzzzz.............

Am hopin' ta spot BF, AKA Sterling. Ain't seen feather ner talon of the girl since we got an ID on 'er. Seen HK two three times since then.

Guess for you Rusty it's either and introduced or invasive species. depending on if you want it or don't want it.   ;D

Here and further east it's a native species so is part of the environment.  Now of course that is the True Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia)  most likely you have what is called Woodbine or False Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus vitacea)  and since you are from where the true Virginia Creeper grows, I am willing to guess you have mistaken the identity of the plant in question.   ;)

"It is very closely related to Virginia Creeper (P. quinquefolia), differing only in its means of climbing, the tendrils twining around plant stems, not having the sticky pads found on the tendrils of Virginia Creeper. One consequence of this is that (unlike Virginia Creeper) it cannot climb smooth walls, only through shrubs and trees. The leaf shape, and also the brilliant fall colors, are indistinguishable from Virginia Creeper."

The ranges do overlap in the middle of the United States and the one growing in may yard I keep fighting is the False kind as well as most of it I have dealt with since it is the twining type.

My thoughts is you should either check the pads or take a sample for a DNA test. :o  This will let you know if it is native or an introduced/invasive plant.  The guy at the garden center should have known and explained this to you. ;D

El Peludo

Just stopping in to say hey, no coffee tonight, but I will fix a mess for the early crew.  Mrs. Hairy and I celebrate number 50 tomorrow, went out tonight for a free steakhouse dinner, compliments of our friendly neighborhood casino.  Not a lot going on here, beautiful weather, and same ol' same ol'.  Gonna head for the hay loft.  Good night.
