While I'm an experienced shooter, I've never shot BP in my life until today. In my usual fashion, I read every post on here, watched every video on YouTube, and tried in general to have an idea of what I was supposed to do before I did it.  Anyway, took my Uberti 1861 Navy to the range today.  I was prepared for the worst, but it never happened.  No cap jams, no misfires, no anything but enjoyable shooting.  My only problem worth noting was I had the hardest time getting the hang of using the capper.  Seemed I was flipping primers out, turning them sideways etc. etc.  Using a Cash snail capper as well as a Cash inline.  Can't quite figure out the problem, but likely a combination
of poor dexterity and just inexperience.  Need to work on that.

For the record, used SlixShot cones and Rem #10 caps.  They sure worked as they should.  Pyrodex P as that was all I could find initially.

Clean up wasn't nearly as bad as I thought.  Ballistol and water in 10/1 seems to be the ticket.

Lots of fun.

Never though Pyrodex was any harder to clean than "Holy" Black, but do know that its residue will cause rust if left on the gun too long, so is best to clean immediately or as soon as you get home (or before you leave the range for those who shoot in CA and drive home to ME after the match)

With my TC snail cappers, I adjust the nose spring tension with my long nose pliers. I have had to do this on all that I have owned.

Welcome to the Darkside.  You will hear copious opinions about what you should be doing.  Take them all with a grain of NaCl.  Go with an experienced shooter and listen with a skeptic ear.  Opinions are like assholes.  Everyone has one.  Some will help, others are a lot of gas.
