I just received a Uberti 1858 complete with a Taylor's conversion cylinder.  Could anyone suggest a factory load for this?

Thanks.

I don 't have a conversion cylinder, or fire a .45 Colt much so I can't help directly but;

Have you tried a search around this forum? I think the answer you seek is out there.

I see you are new here, Pard.  This is a forum where respect and good manners rule.

My post was clearly in jest which is why I used the smiley face.  Two hundred and something people viewed my original post and there were no answers. I have made multiple internet searches before I posted. Instead of being helpful you decide to chastise me.  By the way, I joined n 2004 and understand about manners.  I think I'm done here.

"In General" any factory load that has "Cowboy" in the name and loads a lead bullet to ~ 800 fps will suffice.
Here are a few links that our friend Herr Google found for me in but a few moments.

However It is not likely that you will find many members here shooting factory shells as the cost rapidly becomes prohibitive!
For the price of a few boxes of "Cowboy" .45 Colt one can easily set oneself up with a single stage press,
dies and components, and be churning out either BP or Pyro cartridges as long as you can get primers!

Further, if you peruse the threads on this forum , or use the search feature ( as our good friend Sir Charles suggested) for ".45 Colt 1858 conversion" you will find considerable dicsourse to entertain you.

Good response Prof.

a search as was suggested, or even a call to the fair ladies at Taylor's , could have netted you the answer similar to the one the good Professor provided.

We may have lost the original poster? But, I still want to post this info for those that may continue to read this thread.

See if you can find this handy little book.
Most stores that sell reloading supplies will carry it or be able to order it for you.
Hope this helps.

Saw his post the day he posted, I don't shoot factory loads , so what does one suggest ?  I also tried different combinations, until I found one that the guns and I liked.  I couldn't find factory black powder loads any way around my neck of the woods.
The booklet Blair, directed him to, I found most helpful and would recommend highly.  It wasn't expensive either, think I paid about five bucks for it.  Well worth more in my opinion,

Shawnee,

These booklets are made up in many of the more popular Pistol cartridge cal. Along with many Rifle cartridge calibers.
My booklet is at least twenty years old.
I would imagine additional calibers and powders have been added over the years. (I do not, however, know this to be a fact!)

I check out the Cowboy Loads listed in some loading manuals I have. Then I compare to standard loads. Then I make my choice. Why chose? Sometimes the Cowboy Loads are more pressure than standard min. loads.

Some powders give more vel. with lower pressures.

Black Powder equivilent loads work. Smokeless with a pressure like black gives.
