Drydock

Nah, just reach down and grab a handful, you get 4, 5, or 6, and they all work!
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Realistically, you were the inspiration for a lot of us to really work at getting better with the krag

Oooo! I remember now!!................................
Trapdoors ;)
Well, I can't take all the credit(blame?) for stage design but I've influenced it some.

You've sure got that right!

The ironic thing was that we initially thought we'd have to protect the Krags.....................................................................

I think the Krag is protected Sir,  somewhat inadvertently maybe?  It's a Victorian era rifle (1888) with Victorian era modifications (1902)-right?

I ain't skeered! Bring it on! Just because a man with somewhat equal skill is going to SMOKE me in rapid fire if armed with this handy little ripper! I'll sure as heck try though! :D

Or is it legal now? ;D

Many Brits could achieve over 90 rounds per minute with a clip loading Enfield.  Who can do that with a Krag?

Nice No. 1 Mk. 1.

1.5 rounds per second ?

Dang Colonel, your "trapdoor" seems to have had a gender change whilst you wern't lookin'! :)
Looks like it's going to get another one  ;) I'm thinking I'll probably shoot my Spencer next year  :o

Deep down inside, no matter what I shoot, I'm still a trapdoor shooter though. :)

I believe it. I've heard accounts where the Germans thought they were facing machine gun fire. Weren't the Enfields capable of just changing magazines though?

Old military arms aren't really my forte, but the Lee-Enfield rifles were not issued with spare magazines.  In fact, I recall seeing an early example where the magazine was tethered to the action with a chain.  The rifles were to be loaded via stripper clip and the magazine removed only as part of the field stripping procedure.

No wonder these guys look so mean and pi$$ed off!

That's just them showing off their war face.   :D

90 rounds per minute? Sounds way to fast, according to what I read here: http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&p=892305 the British record for the "Mad Minute" was 38 hits on a 300 yard target, in one minute. There seems to be some debate about exactly what size target it was, but still, it only counted hits, not just how fast you could fling lead. Minimum to qualify was 15, and most ran between 20 and 30.

When adoption of the Lee-Metford was being considered, the issuing of extra magazines was discussed but to my knowledge it did not happen.

Ha Ha! Way too fast is right Sir! But I find blasting through 90 rounds per minute easier to fathom than 38 HITS at 300 yards on a 12" target in one minute!

Most people that shoot Enfields couldn't get 10 hits in a minute. Now granted, this feat was performed by an actual British rifle instructor that was probably in or near his prime. Much different than your average rifle enthusiast.

Now imagine men that were issued these weapons that lived with, slept with, ate with, drilled with for hours every day and used as if their very life depended on it.

I read of the high rates of fire performed by British Soldiers as written by an eye witness in a very well respected publication-but I do not remember where, only that it was a good enough source for me to believe it.

In my 20s, I could empty an ShtLE's 10 round magazine in under 4 seconds-and I'm not even really an "Enfield Guy"! I do still meet the USMC's height/weight and grooming standards and can still fit into my uniforms, HOWEVER-I am in my 50's now, suffering from coronary artery disease, arthritis etc. and even so, I am almost sure I could get off 50 in a minute, but I'd rather just do a 15 second blast and multiply by 4 to keep my friggen heart rate at a manageable level! ;D
