I was kinda thinking about pairing the Zulu up with my Le Mat 10 shooter. Ya never know, my French guy might have served in the Confederate cavalry or picked one up in Paris.  It could have happened..nes pas... ;D

Elhombre: ABSOLUTELY!  Sounds like fun!  I like watching Rattlesnake Jack run his Snider!

Should be about 2X the smoke, since the Snyder is a 577, and I believe a Tabitere in original chambering was a .72 cal. Of course as a shotgun, it's probably a 12 ga.  Maybe you could team up with Delmonico, he's got one of those too, he was telling me.

Charlie and Hombre: I can't speak for the Plum creek people, but for most of us, shooting a s/s on a SASS stage, we will shoot half the rounds of the repeater guys. Probably a six stage match, so maybe 30+/- for a match. 60 pistol, but with only one, maybe they don't reload on every stage.

I have seen some references to the use of a Le Mat grapeshot revolver by either Capt. Dujon or one of his 2 lts. in the French Foreign Legión at the legendary Battle of Hacienda Camarón in 1863. The French rifles used by his 62 enlisted Legionaires against 800 Mexican lancers and 1000 Mexican infantry I believe were ml 1857 Mles, many of which I also understand, were converted to the Schneider/Snider patent breech-loading cartidge system as a second line French battle rifle, and which were then converted to 12 gauge smoothbore "Zulu" shotguns after the Franco-Prussian war.

I don't recall ever reading what weapons were used at Cameron, or specifically by Captain Danjou. At this time, though, I'm pretty sure the enlisted men were still carrying rifle-muskets, not yet converted to breechloader.

I meant to say that the 1857 Mle rifles were ml caplocks that were later converted to the Schneider/Snider patent breechloading cartridge system. I cant recall the Le Mat reference.
