Great question Bat! Thanks for asking.

Before getting to the answer I'd like to give a little background information.

Over the last several months I ask my staff to address the time/scheduling issues we experienced last year and the subjective nature of parts of the Brigade Championship scoring.

On some suggestions there was clear consensus; We need smaller squads with defined shooting orders and stages with a few less targets per stage starting earlier in the morning with a more defined break for lunch. On the Long Range Match we needed to use steel targets so as to eliminate the seemingly endless sighting in and multiple trips out to the targets. We further agreed that the best way to make the Brigade Championship less subjective was to weight the competition heavier on the shooting side by requiring Brigade Championship competitors to wear a uniform that meets a minimum standard as "qualifier" and use placement in the uniform competition as a tie breaker only. These issues were easy to address as we all agreed.

Other issues there wasn't the clear consensus so I had to make a determination myself. One thing I liked about the Brigade Championship was that it was a 3-sided scoring and wanted to make sure that it continue to require placement in 3 events; making the Brigade Champion the "all around cowboy" if you will. My staff couldn't agree on what the third area should be. They also couldn't agree on the format of the sidearm competition.  So what I've decided is this:

For this year the Brigade Champion will be required to place in the Long Range and the Skirmish events with his uniform meeting minimum standards and the uniform competition will be a tie breaker. (This was the format we used to good effect last year) The Sidearm event will be a 10 shot paper event (B-27 target) at 25 yards and will be considered a side match for this year. The long range event will be a 15 shot event on armor targets (this allows full power jacketed loads) with 5 shots standing at 100 yds., 5 shots sitting or kneeling at 200yds., and 5 shots at 300 yds. from the shooters choice of position. All shots are to be rapid fire and total time is the tie breaker. The long range and sidearm events will be treated as a stage in that they are included in the rotation for scheduling. The Long Range match is included in Brigade Championship scoring as usual. The Sidearm Match is a voluntary side match this year, but if the scheduling works the way I think it will, I predict that it will become the 3rd area of competition for 2016.

WOW, you ask the right questions and look what you get.

One last question and I'm done, I promise.

What paper target will you be using for the 25 yard sidearm match, B27?

Is the round count target count similar to previous Musters? Pierre currently has only about 155 Lebel cases available, after loading some for the long range, that will only leave about 130-135 for mail match ammo.(brass mortality is pretty high in the "N" chambered Lebels, due to over working of the case necks in re-sizing) Or I could order a couple of boxes of Privi factory ammo for the long range, hoping it will arrive in time, leaving more brass for lead bullets.

Pitspitr

It'll be similar, but each stage will be a little shorter.

As I stated before, this is a really busy time for me this year. Unfortunately, I will have to bow out of attending this year. Some work scheduling problems have become the "final straw" for being able to make it, along with the time pressures of building a house and the ever present financial pressures. However, arrangements will begin immediately for next year's GM. Perhaps things will "loosen up" a bit later to allow going to either Iowa or Illinois.

Anybody have any 3lb coffee cans they could donate? I need a few to keep the mice out of the TP in the outhouses.

I can bring you three 3# coffee cans (if you can call plastic anything cans.)  Found two in the basement with brass in them and we're about to empty another in the coffee club at work.  Also have a few 2# if you want them.

Pitspitr,
I realized a couple days ago I will have Friday off 'cuz I'm working Sunday. Is it too late to register?

Sadly, it looks like I will have to cancel as well.  Between finally finding a job, and not being able to track down the appropriate amount of .30-40 Krag brass, it's probably best not to try and attend this muster.  See you all at the next though!

Slim, I expect with all the cancellations, you shouldn't have a problem. Hope the remaining participants have a great time, looks like I'll be working Saturday..... :(

Delmonico

Already called and gave Mrs. Slim Jerry's numbers and told her to tell him to head that way.    ;D

I am sure it's no problem.    ;)

Sorry Slim, I've been out of town the last couple of days and just got home. As Delmonico Said we have plenty of room and that goes for anybody else considering it.

Cpl. Jake I can loan you ammunition if that would help. We'd really like to have you.

Besides I just picked up the pistol we're giving as a door prize and it's really nice. Odds are down to under 24:1, so That's a lot better odds than playing the lottery.  ::)
