Good on the pups, Roo.

Mornin', y'all.

Weather's same as yestitty but the chance of t-storms is a l'il higher.

The kids are headed ta Busch Gardens. Nash was the first one in the van. Guess he didn't wanna get stuck with the old folks again taday. The mutt don't know he's gonna spend the day inna kennel once they get there.

Did up a loaf so Ali could see how I do it. Sliced it this mornin'. Think there's two hunks left.

Got stuff ta do now that things is quiet again.

Havin' a nutritious lunch of potted meat product 'n low fat round Ritz-like thingys.

The bread:

Ya getta pretty big Pyrex bowl or sumthin' similar. A three cup Pyrex measurin' cup or sumthin' similar. Sift three cups flour. Three teaspoons bakin' powder. Three teaspoons salt. Quarter cup sugar. 12 oz. canna cheap beer.

Put the dry stuff tagether 'n stir it up. Pour the beer in it 'n stir it inta dough. Dump it inta a greased (I use the spray stuff) Pyrex (like my glass) loaf mould or sumthin' similar. Throw-away foil things werk. Put an inch or two of a stick of butter in the measurin' cup 'n nuke it 'til it melts. Ya want more use more. Pour it o'er the dough.

Put it in the crock pot. Turn the crock pot on High. 'Bout two, two 'n a half hours the internal temp should be twix 190° 'n 200°. If it ain't leave it in there 'til it is. When it is take it out 'n set it onna rack ta cool.

Turn the crock pot off.

When the loaf cools slice it up 'n eat it.

So simple even I can do it.

Get back ta work shortly. Supervisin' the dish washer 'n givin' the station wagon a bath. Supervisin' the dish washer is a lot easier.

The Trinity Kid

Good mornin', y'all.

Yesterday, we went on a spur of the moment trip over to the property in the Pines, grilled some beef that got too close to a propeller (a.k.a. hamburger), and had some fruits with my uncle.  didn't leave there till 9:15, or so, and it's a 1 hour trip during the day.  At night, you want to go 10-15 mph below the speed limit of 55.  it took a while.  We stopped on top of one of the hills in the way and watched a pretty impressive electrical storm over the Sacramento valley, nicely accented by the glow of a 13,000 acre fire. 8)

Hey, Arcey, think you could substitute Splenda for the sugar in that bread recipe? And would it work with wheat or whole wheat flour? That sounds interesting to me and once we get into the fall/winter routine, I'd have time to do it myself ??? ::)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Arcey

Don't trust myself 'nuff not ta stick a thermometer in it, Del. Least not yet. With a little more time 'n experience I'll get cocky 'n screw sumthin' up.

I'd be tellin' a fib if I answered the questions with conviction, Buck. I dunno, I'm a rookie. Would think ya could substitute sumthin' for sumthin' else but that's just a thought. Yer might end up bakin' a brick for all I know.

You could just leave the sugar out, not really needed.  Let me try to post my 12 1/2 page bread recipe in Cosies tonight when I get home to my files, it will clear up more of the mystery of yeast bread than Emril and Martha could together on their best day.
