I was watching Rustlers Rhapsody starring Tom Berenger and Patrick Wayne. Clever parody of the singing cowboy movies. These too 'good guys' had the best B-West outfits I ever saw.  Movie had some great quotable lines.

Sure Gene and Roy (bowing in reverence) sometimes had flashier loud applique shirts but the way these outfits were color coordinated was the high point of the movie. The sidekick (played by Rizzo from MASH) did a perfect Sonny Burnett imitation.

I am going to have to watch this one some more.

Arnie Schwartzenwhatever didn't do too bad in The Villain IIRC.

That is Smiley Burnett, not Sonny!

I am thinking about geting a Bandito or Vaquero get up . . .

I have yet to see "Rustler's Rhapsody," haven't been able to find a copy yet.  Hope to remedy that soon.

My taste in costume heads in a little different direction.  My favorite is Viggo Mortensen's Hitch in "Appaloosa."  If I could look like that, I'd be real happy.  (It's entirely beside the point, of course, that I'd have to look both young and thin again to achieve it...)

I'm rather partial to pretty girls dressed up in "Old West" kit.

Thanks for the correction...what was I thinking....Sonny Burnett was a Miami Vice character.

The pastels must have spun my brain around and when I thought of Burnett....Sonny came out instead of Smiley.

Wrong again.  Sonny Crockett was the Miami Vice character played by Don Johnson

Okay, you're both right. Sonny Crockett was the narc played by Don Johnson. Sonny Burnett was Crockett's "undercover" name used when he was posing as a drug dealer. I suspect that both names were taken from Disney. How? In the early 50s Walt Disney famously made "Davy Crockett" and set off the coonskin hat craze. Looking for a followup, they created a tv miniseries called "The Saga of Andy Burnett," about an aspiring mountain man.  Whoever wrote the initial Miami Vice episodes must have been a fan of those productions. Crockett-Burnett is too big a coincidence not to be deliberate.

Hi

I love Westerns.  I love John Wayne movies.  I love Clint Eastwood Movies.  I love Robert Duvall's movies.  I also love Rustler's Rhapsody.  Rustler's Rhapsody is the intersection between Unforgiven, and a Singing Cowboy Movie.  The Good Guy has to be more than Tom Mix used to be.

;D actually....  Nothing to do with Disney

Anthony Yerkovich wrote the pilot for "Vice" stayed on for the run.
Sonny Crockett was perp character from his Hills Street Blues days , Yerkovich recycled the name.

when planets align...do the deal !

The Elderly Kid

So how did he come up with Burnett? I stand by my theory!
