Hello all,

I thought I would share my latest gun store find. Illinois Central Railroad 12Ga, 1889 Remington. (pictures attached)

The stock is marked "ICCR No. 13".

I still have a little research to do on this one. It came into my local shop through an older gentleman who's grandfather worked for the railroad. I will probably see if I can find any more "providence" on the thing, but I have been dealing with this shop for 20+ years and they they new the guy who brought it in.

On the plus side, I had an old Colt Woodsman that only shot "22 Standard Velocity" sitting in the safe for the last 15 years and in only average condition, doing nothing, so I made an even swap.

All in all, I am happy with the trade. :-)

If anyone wants me to take any detailed pictures of anything out of curiosity, let me know.

'Illinois Central Railroad'?
This will have collector value to RR collectors too?
See if the shop will contact the old man and get ya'll in touch.
Document the career of the original owner and see if he has photos or any paperwork leading back to the RR.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

The ICRR was the first land grant railroad and connected Chicago with New Orleans via Ciro, IL river boat. It was founded in 1850 and played a pert in the civil war too. Interesting history... I just started learning about it when I got the gun.

I also made an invite to the grandson owner to take him to lunch and learn a bit more.

That is a sweet scattergun!  That look would be a great idea for someone wanting to personalize their firearm.

Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
