After about a mile, Neosho makes a 90 degree turn to the east and becomes 1550 Rd.  You will come to a kink in the road where is goes about a brown house (our land owner's); after that look for a drive back to the north; that takes you to the range.

It all shows up nicely on Google Maps; except they call Neosho - Nebraska.

Yeah, you have to watch out for that, first time I came out there Windy City Joe posted the Google maps directions. The real  Nebraska road is the next road over to the south, and I drove it from end to end until I stopped at a farmhouse and they told me where the range actually was.

River City John

When I first started coming down there, Neosho WAS Nebraska! When they changed its name it threw me off, but just for a little while.

Hey All,
What time does stuff start on Saturday?  I am hoping to observe a good chunk of the match on Saturday and am trying to plan accordingly.

Books OToole

I believe that the Safety meeting is to be at 9:00 am and shooting to follow.
There will be 8 stages, all shot on Saturday with a break for lunch.
The NCOWS Double-Action Championship with be on Sunday.

Books have you and Trap worked out the Main Match round count yet? I'm assuming the Double Action Championship will be the usual 15 shot affair. Thanks, -J.Barr

Books OToole

I do not have a precise round count but; there are 8 stages, so 80 rifle and 40 pistol (throw in a few extras).  Some stages you may only shoot one gun and one or two stages may have a reload.

And the traditional 15 for the DA Championship.

I have to thank everyone involved.  That was a lot of fun and I will definitely be back for more!   Thanks to everyone who made me feel very welcome.   You all are great!

We, too, had a great time.  Well, except for the little red ticks that seemed drawn to me.  Will be back next year

Next year we will see if we can bring you some Fire Ants.  They have decimated the tick and chigger population.  Of course they have played hell with the quail and any other ground nesting birds as well.

Gentlemen,

While broaden each others understanding of Entomology, please heed my warning, and DO NOT introduce any brown recluse spiders to the local habitat.

PC it is not, but I can recommend those little belt clip deals from OFF.   If you are not moving around they are quite effective on  many pests.  Now, if we could get rid of chiggers that would be a good thing, I would miss the quail though, tasty little buggers.

River City John

I pulled four ticks out of me when I got back home.
Lynn insisted she do a thorough body search of those areas I could not examine. Or so she said. For all I know she just wanted to get fresh with me.

Dutch, too late. Trap, our reliable Entomologist, pointed out the Brown Recluse the last time we were down there and gave a quick lesson in identifying features. Then he applied gentle foot pressure to convince the arachnid he should have taken up lodging elsewhere. This last foray down to Wight Station I was convinced everything that crawled was a Brown Recluse.

Just like after showering after de-ticking and dressing, I was convinced the whole day I felt creepy-crawlies moving about under my clothing.

Thanks, Trap.  I'lll see what we can import for you in October.  Jeez, I had a total of 26 ticks over the weekend.  Still had 7 on me when I got home and had Angel check me.  Little buggers....

"The Brazilian wandering spider is one of the most venomous spiders in the world (currently listed in the Guinness World Records as *the* most venous spiders), but luckily their fangs are poorly adapted for attacking mammals so the bite is unlikely to kill you. Instead, if you're a man you'll sport a very painful erection for several hours."

I believe it is unnecessary to comment further.

As to my recent KVC tick incident.
Lynn was concerned so she took the ticks in to the local County Extension Division to have them identified. She was informed that luckily, they were nymphs.
To quote:
"it was kinda lucky they were nymphs. Nymphs haven't had the opportunity to get around that much, picking up diseases."
Lynn still can't say this without laughing.
