Howdy All,

I need exactly ONE loading tube for my Spencer carbine.  I sometimes shoot it at CAS matches and currently reload the last rounds on a stage singly over the top.
I would like to get my hands on a loading tub that will hold 44-40 ammo.
I'm thinking of taking some rounds to a hardware store and having them fabricate one for me.
Any thoughts?

Why not try Taylor's for a replacement tube?

http://www.chiappafirearms.com/ is the Armi Sport main repair/parts facility in the USA.
Maybe try to contact them for a replacement tube?

Use a piece of copper pipe, cut and crimp the end of one over and use a rubber stopper to keep the rounds in.

Howdy Sean,

Thanks, that's what I'm going to do.  Taylor's only sells the reloading tubes in sets of 6 and Chiappa doesn't sell them.

Guess I'll take some rounds and hit the hardare store this weekend.

Sgt John - I tried what you're thinking of doing and I found it 50% slower than over the top.  Are you staging the rounds or try to fish them out of a pocket or belt?

Blair

Sgt. John,

I have 8 reloading tubes made up from galvanized electrical conduit that will allow 44-40.
How many would you like?  @ $2.50 each, plus shipping? Each reloading tube will hold 7 rounds but is too small in its interior dia. to hold the # 56 size casing.

You can make these up for your own needs if you wish at half the price I quoted.
E-mail me for more info.
(these tubes may also be used for "quick" loading the Henry's up to 7 rounds)
My best,
Blair

Hi Blair,

Great post and thank you for the generous offer.  Do you have any suggestions on what to use for the 56-50 Spencer Rounds?

Best wishes,

Two Flints,

Sorry, I do not for the 56-50.

One of the Blakely box makers used a stainless steel tube. Another used aluminum.
Both were ok but not correct.
I went to several Tinsmiths to see what they could do for the proper size.
They did not have rollers that could or get that small a diameter. I just let it go at that.

Pvt. Greg,

I generally load out of a shirt pocket like Barney Fife.  I haven't staged rounds because usually the ammo has to come from your body hence the idea of making my own loading tube.

Blair,

Thanks for your information and generosity, but I stopped last night the the hardware store and picked up what I need.
I appreciate people like you who are always trying to help others.

I believe you can stage extra rounds on stage props - but I'd have to look at my RO manual.
