Howdy (and special thanks to Hargrave and all y'all for the green plant) ;)

Surgery went well, it was robotic and I woke up alive...............
Nurse removed my catheter around noon, that was an ah ha moment!

Got up and did three laps around the nurses station before they realized I didn't have my boxers on but they got even with me just now by giving me a suppository and that was a MOOON RIVER moment!

So they are sending me home tomorrow, if I pass gas, or the next day (or longer) if I don't ( how about some of those prayers for gas?). Then I get to wait until my follow up appt to find out what my long term plans will be.

They cut out about 20% of my right Kidney (I thought it would have been more) and said he was real happy with the surgery.

That's about it for now :P
Thanks to all my pals/friends here, I appreciate the support!

Regards, HH

Hoof Hearted

Got home from Dallas yesterday, nice to be home! Seems like I have been in the hospital all damn year long (started Feb. 8th).

My Urologist, Cadeddu: http://profiles.utsouthwestern.edu/profile/41601/jeffrey-cadeddu.html is supposed to be the best around and UT Southwestern was the first place Kidney transplants were performed so pretty sure I was/am in good hands!

He removed the tumor and was able to leave 80 percent of my right kidney.

I am home now and felling better today than I did yesterday. Supposed to take it easy for two weeks and I have to stay off the blood thinners until the 26th, then I start giving myself Lovenox shots twice a day for about 10 days and Warfarin with PT/INR testing until my reading is between 2 and 3. Frickin' Lovenox is about 80$ a pop outta my pocket so that's $1600 (check your insurance cause $3000 in Prescription Med coverage doesn't go very far). Follow up on November 4th.

Hope I can start doing something before winter sets in!

Thanks again for all the thought and prayers............

My Hemotologist was able to finagle Blue Cross in some kind of wrap around to get me a home INR testing device from Alere through Park Medical, you might check into that. Blue Cross will only pay for one test strip per week so you have to be careful and I now use little pipettes to draw the blood after pricking my finger, no more bad tests. This was all possible due to the fact I live a ways from the nearest town with a lab.

We used to poison ground squirrels in the foothills in CA with Wafarin infused grain. The squirrels and cattyle didn't get along too well due to their burrows in the ground (could be hell on horses too).
