Was watching the Walking Dead last night .   I realized the 44wcf 73 would be the Ultimate Zombie rifle . What do you think ?  ;D

Wasn't Lit' Carl using a '94 Marlin during the big prison battle?

Grenadier

Love my '73, but I have to disagree about it being a "combat" weapon.

It takes entirely too long to reload.

I also love my 1873 short rifle, but in a "zombie" scenario I would probably grab an AR-15 first. I think bunch of 20 and 30 round detachable magazines has an edge over a 10-13 round tube magazine in a situation like that.  ;)

Tornado

Well once the rifle is empty you would just grab your shotgun or your backup rifle off of the gun cart you are dragging behind you! ;D

Just thought you could cap a few Zombies and load on the move . You know shoot move and communicate . The AR-15 is a good rifle  but will you slow down and AIM or because you have a stack of 30 rd mags will you spray and pray ?

The Swede

Head shots... head shots kill'm. Spray 'n pray wastes ammo.  ;D

I have never "sprayed and prayed" in my life. If you aren't going to even try to hit what you're shooting at, don't pull the trigger. ;D

The 1873 is the ultimate rifle, period.  Consequently it is the ultimate zombie rifle.  I do find them a tad light for Cape Buffalo.

The 44wcf would do an Excellent job on Zombie head shots . Now you might need a wheel barrel  full of ammo , or a Gun Cart about the same thing . Now remember while zombie hunting never hunt alone , that way you can have 360 security . I recommend a minimum of 6 men .

One advantage a '73 has over a magazine fed rifle is you don't have to keep up with the empty mags.  Once you drop all you mags and run away then you only have a single shot rifle.  Although knowing me I would still be worried about picking up my empty brass! ;D

Of course, with a 73, after the first thirteen shots you might not have to worry about much else at all. ;)

ZOMBIES? your kidding right?
Save your powder bullets and primers.

I believe the last time I saw a Zombie, I just laughed it to death! (that was at a driven theater, and I'm not sure they exist either)

Were just having fun . Hope you join in , we all need a good laugh .

We have Zombies in Texas, especially South Texas. Every election day they rise from the grave and vote as Democrats.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Since Zombies are attracted to noise, a real advantage of the '73 44-40 over the AR15 is that you can shoot very quite loads in them. I have not experimented with them myself, but with the right powder and load, you can definitely shoot sub-sonic and maybe even 'silent' (more of a Pfffffft). That way you can pop a Zombie without starting a stampede your way of other Zombies.

Grenadier

I have always thought a 10/22 with multiple mags would be the best all around "zombie" gun.

Carry 1000's of rounds of ammunition and will easily bounce around inside of a human skull.

Is that why you can't buy 22 ammo , people are stock piling in prep .
